How do I get that version again? It worked perfectly for me, and then the game got patched to that messy piece of crap it is now.

I bought the game at the Beamdog store, but for some reason they just refuse to let customers download anything but the latest patched version over there. I am colourblind and the new sprites REALLY mess with my eyes.

Is there any way to....de-patch the game?
Beamdog don't want you to. There is no (legal) way to go back to older versions, unless you've kept backups of older installers.

Have you tried heading over to Beamdog and telling them your situation? They might be able to work something out.
Several times. It tends to make fanboys go all passive-agressive on me, and call me a whiner etc. Beamdog themselves don't do anything at all to help.
Sadly, in the modern era, when many games exist in the cloud, and all software is offered as a continually updated service, being able to play the version of the game you first fell in love with, and that worked for you, is becoming more and more difficult.

Historically, the most complete software archives often exists only through extra-legal means. The only reason we have so much software from the earliest eras of PC gaming, like the Apple II era or the Commodore 64 era, is thanks to extra-legal software archives.

I'm not endorsing resorting to extra legal methods to solve your problem. But you gotta do what you gotta do to get the game you paid for to play properly for you.

It would be nice if the people you paid money to would help you with your problem, but it sounds like you've reached the end of that road.
Kind of on-topic question.

Beamdog gave me a Steam key for the BG games. I tried using GoG Conect to get them working on GoG as well. But I get a message saying "No elligable games found".

Am I doing somehting wrong here?

You can`t get all your Steam games via connect. It`s a promotion with selected games every now and then and last promo is already over.
When there are new games, you will see them below of the "No elligable games found".and the games you can reclaim exactly where this text stands.
Thank you. I thought I could just get all of them right off the bat.
Another question here. How do I play the game, on Steam, with the 1.3 patch enabled?
Have you tried e-mailing them? I found their address: contact@beamdog.com

That should get to them directly, as opposed to making a request through their forums.

I also found this: support@beamdog.zendesk.com

Not sure if that's legit or not though. Might want to be careful when dealing with the second address.

Zendesk is a third party cloud based support platform. A middle man.

Did that too. I even had a chat with one of the devs about it in PM some months back. It seems the sprites and all the new stuff in the 2.0 patch has gotten some complaints. the sprites in particular. He mentioned Beamdog looking at it for some solution in a later patch but....Doesn't look like it will happen now.

I got the 1.3 version working on Steam. Took me 20 minutes to start it, of course. Steam + the game needed updates. My commodore 64 loads games 4 times faster than Steam, it seems.
