To make it short - I'm thinking about buying Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga from GOG.
I have a MacBook Pro with Retina Display (Resolution: 2880 x 1800) and running Windows 8.1.

Does anyone here run a similiar setup and might give me feedback?

I know that these older games sometimes tend to have weird scaling issues, even though it says this game is fully compatible with Windows 8 on the storefront.

I am not planning to use a widescreen patch (super small UI at native res) and want to experience the game in all its blurry gloriness.

Your 2880x1800 resolution will be irrelevant if you are playing BG1 at it's native 4:9 resolution of 640x480. Your graphics card will display that, not the obscure one, with letterbox black boxes either side. You would only have to worry, in my opinion, if you were viewing it on a super large monitor (as opposed to resolution). Then it would be... icky.
