Hi everyone, I have just purchased BG and BGII and installed using the steps and mods posted by GoJays2025. I also installed a few additional mods from a guide on a website called tamrielfoundry.

Anyway, I just fired up a new game as a test and the entire area map for Candlekeep is immediately visible - is that correct or should it be mostly black like the other areas that you subsequently explore? I haven't played BG for about 15 years and can no longer remember!

I don't think this is the normal behavior in the vanilla game: you have probably installed BGTTweak or a similar mod.

Thanks for the reply, that's kinda what I was thinking might have happened. I just ran setup-bgttweak.exe again to check what options I chose and I didn't install that particular mod ("Major locations...") so I don't think it's that.

I just left Candlekeep as a test and the land outside there is "explorable", so at least it doesn't appear to be affecting everywhere but I can't be sure about Beregost and other major locations yet.

I'm playing through BGT now - not far in - Candlekeep was all visible from the start but Beregost etc had the black fog-of-war.
I guess there's logic that you grew up in Candlekeep and should know it by now :)

Yes it does make perfect sense that the whole area map would be visible for Candlekeep if you grew up there!

I just didn't want to start a new game and get all the way to the next major location, only to find that I had modded something incorrectly. Much easier to sort it all out beforehand :)
