Singleplayer works like a charm, but can't get multiplayer to work at all. When i try to create a game with TCP/IP the game freezes for a few seconds but nothing happens. When I try to connect to a friend through IP, his game cannot be found. I have a mac computer with version 10.9.4.

Also can widows and mac computers play with each other?

I'm ignorant on Mac issues, but even in Windows BG1 is very fussy with multiplayer; you should create/join a game while it is windowed, not full screen. You can go back to full screen once in game.
