Hi,

I'm in the Beholder Lair in the Unseeing Eye quest. At the end of a fight Mazzy was out of the party. I assumed she was turned to stone so I used a stone to flesh scroll. However, she just stands there with a blue circle.

If I try to talk to her I get "has nothing to say to you". Is this a bug? I have a save just before the battle but it took me several goes to win so I'd much prefer to be able to put Mazzy back in the party.

The Infinity Engine has a bug that makes interacting with objects/npcs impossible. The 'fix' is to save the game and reload. Make a new save (not quicksave) and reload.
One other thing: You can get Mazzy back in your party with the Ctrl-Q cheat, but she will likely still be lacking dialogue if you do this.
Just made a new save and reloaded but still no luck.

What is the Control Q cheat? If I use it will Mazzy not say anything for the rest of the game?

By the way, I'm on Mac - not sure if that makes a difference.

It's odd because Mazzy was in the party at the start of the fight and I've no idea why she was not in the party at the end of the fight.

Do not use the CTRL+Q cheat. It is a brute force method of grabbing characters into your party. The problem is that standard members need to go through the party dialog, because when they are recruited and/or dismissed their party dialog script is changed. If you force her into your party she will have either no dialog, or the wrong dialog that will prevent interaction.

Earlier you said that you "assumed" she was turned to stone. Does this mean that you never checked? Was she *actually* petrified, or was she just standing there? Did you not notice, during the battle, what happened to her?
I didn't notice what happened to her in all of the chaos. By the time the fight was over (4 beholders and quite a few gauth!) I could not see what had happened when I tried to scroll through the information.

I only assumed she was petrified - I'm not certain. But her portrait was out of my party (so I only had 5 in the vertical column). I thought perhaps this was why she was no longer in the party and I could see an attempt to petrify another character.

She may well have been simply standing there at the end of the battle.

I have no idea why she would suddenly have been removed from the party.

Mazzy is a paladin (at heart). Is your party reputation very low? If it is, she will leave.

No - 12 reputation. There was no dialogue - she was simply removed from the party at some point during the fight.

This is very unusual. A character doesn't simply get removed from the party and end up with no rejoin dialog. I would suggest you reload the save you mentioned, then go back out to Waukeen's Promenade, then get yourself the Shield of Balduran from Deidre in the Adventurer's Mart. Equip you best melee fighter with the shield and send him/her alone to deal with the beholders.
