Hello Mortals!

Whenever I cast Charm Person/Dire Charm I noticed that I have a higher success rate if the person casting it has a higher charisma. Is there an actual link between the two or am I seeing a pattern that isn't there?

You are seeing a pattern that isn't there. The effectiveness of a spell, any spell, depends on it's properties (is a saving throw allowed or not, etc.), and the appropriate saving throws and resistances of the target: Elves are immune to Charm and Sleep, for example. Charisma doesn't factor into it.
