I've bought and downloaded Baldur's Gate 2 through GOG and it runs and is working well except for some of the sound. The music and ambient noises are OK, but some of the dialog and voices have a crackle to them.

Anyone else experiencing this? Any clue as to how I can fix this?

If you're on Vista\Windows 7 try disabling EAX and hardware acceleration through BG2 config.

If you're on XP, try turning hardware acceleration down a notch or two via DXDIAG

I'm on XP. What is DXDIAG? Can you tell me more?

Thanks!

It stands for DirectX Diagnostic Tool.

To access it, go to Menu Start->Run and type dxdiag.
Then click on Sound tab and there under DirectX features you'll hardware sound acc. level Kezardin wrote about.

Alas, this did not work. There's still a quiet crackling noise. Any other thoughts, anyone?
Sorry to resurrect the thread, but I'm running into a similar problem. BGTutu, Windows 7 64 bit. I'm getting a static-y noise on "voice" and "sound effect" sound - ambient and music seems to work fine.

Also, I'm not seeing hardware acceleration in the BG2 config anywhere near sound - am I just blind?
Sorry to necro this thread but i have the same problem.
Just installed BG2 and in the intro speech i notice a crackling sound in the dialogue.
EAX can't even be toggled on so it can't be that.

Hoping there is a fix for this, was all perfectly fine in BG1.
