Hi,

GOG BG Original Saga. No Mods at all except the fix

System:
AMD Ryzen 5700g
32GB Ram
12GB Geforce RTX Video card
SSD - something

So someone kindly pointed me towards 'DDWrapper' with 'DirectDrawEmulation' + 'NoVideoMemory' set to '1' which solves my graphical issues and arrows facing backwards with Geforce cards.

Unfortunately when I run the game my CPU spikes from 28 degrees celsius to 56. Which I think is crazy. I tried deleting the above modification and it does the same with nothing more than BG the original saga installed. No mods - nothing.

Had my hopes up for a while there that I wouldn't have to break out the 98se or WinXP pc for actual compatibility.

I'll try my 1998 CD version at some point and report back, but just wondering if this is a GOG version compatibility thing, or if it known?.

Thanks.

1 Ryzens in general run fast and hot by design will boost up until it bumps into the power, thermal, or frequency limits. Your 5700G has a PPT of 88W, a max boost clock of 4.6 and a thermal limit of probably 95C so 56 is average small-load temp

2 it has onboard GPU, so yeah if in a warm room anything under 80c = nothing to worry about but if you exceed 100c while gaming I'd invest in better water cooling than the stock setup or expect the chip to fail 5 mins after your warranty ends

3 cooking chips is why you don't buy 2nd hand
Edited post as I mis-read it.

Thing is I played King Arthur Knight's tale on max settings and Batman Arkham Knight as well and it didn't break mid 40s. Every once in a while I'd hear the fans kick in, but generally steady.

I've checked the thermal paste, cleared a bit of dust on the fans, rechecked the fan profile in the bios and everything is ok.

So it just seems odd that under those conditions this 26 year old game is pulling the CPU into a sweat.
