I know a lot of reviews complained about the game being extremely buggy. How much of that has been fixed by recent patches like 1.3? I've been thinking about getting the Enhanced Edition versions of the Baldur's Gate games for a while, but held off due to the high price and claims of it crashing and glitching more than BG II.

This question / problem has been solved by kilobugimage
I played the whole EE saga recently on Linux, and didn't encounter any serious bug - no game crash, no savegame corruption, no major game-related bugs. A few glitches here and there, and I'm not even sure if it wasn't my fault (ie, some minor secondary quest item I couldn't find, but can't be sure I didn't actually drop it/sell it by mistake).

So from my own experience, it's all fine.

I'm about 45 hours into a playthrough on it and it's been rock solid. Came back after a year since I last played BG2 modded and was pleasantly surprised with it.

It's a pretty steep asking cost but it holds up well.

The Icewind Dale EE is also pretty great while we're at it :)

I've been playing the EE on PC and I haven't had any crashing problems. The only problem I've had is that Jaheira's "Raise Dead" spell, which I believe is called "Harper's Call" or something like that, doesn't work. She can still cast it, but nothing happens afterward. This makes Jaheira a lot less useful in the game, but at least Anomen's "Raise Dead" spells work, so I assume all of the clerics' spells still work.

Do you have the most recent patch? That was definitely one of the issues the 1.3 patch fixed.

Oh, I'm not sure that I do. I have been playing the Steam version, even though I own it from GOG too. I think my playthrough started before this patch came out. Thanks for the info! :)

I believed they fixed some pathing issues as well in recent patches, so it looks like they're still committed to supporting the title which is great.
Let's just call it solved. Thank you all. :)
