I was wondering where can I find instructions or a mod on how to make my own spells? I'm not asking for hand holding, I just want a point in the right direction.

You can use NearInfinity to browse the game resources and learn how the existing spells work (I recommend getting the most recent version of NI as it works fine despite being a pre-release version).

If you want to create a mod implementing your custom spells and share it with others, you should really use [url=http://www.weidu.org/~thebigg/README-WeiDU.html]WeiDU[/url] to package it.
