I have installed BG1 and when I click to start the game it gives me the message:

Tale of the Sword Coast
not enough free space


I´ve set it to run as admin and to run on compatibility mode for XP SP3

I use Windows 8

Where did you install it? Do not install inside the Windows' protected 'Program Files' folder. Install to somewhere like C:\Games\ .

I´ve installed it on my D:\ drive, which has 2,5tb free

That is your problem.
It doesn't recognise GTP hard drives. Do you have a MBR hard drive you can install it on?

It is more likely that it does not like more then 2TB free space, if you don't want or can install it to another drive try lowering the free space below 2TB.
A game should normally not care about the partition table of a drive or if it can boot an OS from it.

My other HD is a SSD

I´ll try to install it there and see what happens
