Hello, I've been having trouble with BG2 recently. It used to run just fine, and now I'm not sure what happened. When I start up the game, after all the different slash screens show up the last one sticks there for 5-10 seconds while the title screen music plays. Every time I click a button, the screen also hangs for 5-10 seconds while the music advances along. Eventually I am able to load my game. Once I am in the game, the framerate is terrible unless the camera is moving or away from the party. The menus also take a while to open. Any ideas? I'm running windows 8 64 bit. Icewind dale, BG1, and Planescape torment work just fine.

You have BGT installed, and recently uninstalled the widescreen mod (not needed for BG2/BGT). Having uninstalled the widescreen mod, the issue could be with your save games. Try starting a new game and see if the same occurs.

I uninstalled that after the problems started, but I tried anyway.

It was a bit painful starting a new games with the hanging for 5 seconds after pressing any button, but when I started a new games the same problems occurred.
Ok, then this could be either a corrupt installation, or something completely non-related, ie. overheating of your graphics card: since you mention how everything appears to be 'stalling/halting'. Try a reboot of your computer, and then clean out all of your TEMP folders, and run a quick virus scan with updated definitions. Once you've done that, check your power and heat readings for CPU and GPU. If everything is alright there, try the game again. If you still get the same, you may be looking at a clean install: your current install may be corrupt.

Well, it seems like this fixed it. I was trying to avoid uninstalling so I wouldn't have to redo all the mods, but guess this was the only way. Thanks.

I'm glad you're back up and running, at any rate. My best advice on this is stay away from the widescreen mod with BG2 and/or BGT/TuTu -- it's not needed, and can cause unforeseen problems unless you're diligent on mod management and save games.
