I installed BGT and got it working just fine, but as I am playing I continue to see hints and tips appearing in the chat window.. is there a way to disable these from constantly appearing?

Yes. Go to Options >> Gameplay >> Feedback. It's all in there. :)

I disabled all the feedback options and I still get these tips in my dialogue box... it's really irritating! I tried googling to figure out more about this, but nothing came up..

* EDIT *
I noticed just now whatever shows on a loading screen is printed into the dialogue box... that might be what's causing this... but how the hell do I turn it off?!?!

You mean game tips? That's not normal. Go to your BG2 folder in Windows and run BGConfig. In the Gameplay >> Visual section make sure that Extra Feedback and Display Subtitles is not checked.

I tried that, it's not possible to disable the loading tips as it turns out... so I just decided to play another vanilla BG1 game again instead...

*sigh*

someone should really make a mod for that...
