Hey guys,

I bought both BG games to relive a lot of great memories. I installed the BGT as well. Now to my question: After the Sarevok fight the PC will be transfered to BG2 with all NPC's that are supposed to be in BG2, e.g. Edwin. Is there any chance to remove the NPC's from the group after the Sarevok fight and before the transition? From what I understand, the NPC's otherwise carry over their BG1 stats. I don't want to for the NPC's I plan to use in BG2. Also, what happens to NPC's that are killed in BG1 but play a role in BG2 (fore example: Minsc or Jaheira)?

Another question regarding the transition: Is it possible to carry over certain items?

Thanks in advance!

While Imoen, Jaheira, Minsc, Viconia and Edwin all retain their stats on transition, the only NPCs that get carried over with you into BG2 are Imoen, Jaheira and Minsc -- the others you meet later on. None are actually in your group at the start of BG2 -- the start is just as it would be in a fresh game (Chateaux Irenicus) , just with different stats for your character and the aforementioned. You still get to choose who joins your group, or not. Any NPCs that are killed in BG1 are resurrected if they are essential to the BG2 storyline (Imoen, Jaheira, Minsc, Viconia, Edwin -- even the cameo roles of Coran, Safana, Faldorn, Garrick, Xzar, Montaron, Quayle, Tiax). Two NPCs do not make it: Khalid and Dynaheir.

All items are stripped from all inventories, as per BG2 norm. You may still import two of these items, as normal.

So what you are saying is the following:
Imoen, Jaheira, Minsc, Vicy and Edwin will all have their BG1 classes and stats in BG2 even if they weren't part of group in the final battle of BG1? So let's assume that Imoen is in my group in BG1 and during the transition script, she would still be a thief (assuming I did not dual class her in BG1) instead of thief/mage?

Basically what I want to know is if classes/stats that difer from certain NPC's in BG1 compared to BG2 will simply change to their original BG2 values or not?

I would just like to play BG1 without worrying what the NPC's will be like in BG2. For example, i don't mind Imoen beeing pure thief in BG1 but I want her to be a duaclass in the second part for sure.

Maybe it is still confusing, what I want:
A Vicony with 18 WIS in BG2 even if she is part of the group in the final battle of BG1 and a dual-classed Imoen. Does this happen by default during the transition from BG1 to 2 or do I have so that the NPC's don't retain their BG1 values to BG2?

Yes. BGT switches automatically from the end of BG1 into BG2, and all important characters retain ALL of their XP (level cap nothwithstanding) and classes. If Imoen was not dual classed in BG1, she will still be a thief at the start. But that's ok, since you can then choose at what level to dual her -- BG2 got it just about right (Thief 7 / Mage xx). Though if you wanted her to have 1 extra proficiency point wait until Thief 8, and if you wanted 1 more point in backstab, wait until Thief 9, though why anybody would want Imoen backstabbing with only 9 STR is beyond me. My recommendation is to dual her immediatly (or at level 7 if she hasn't reached there yet).

Basically what I want to know is if classes/stats that difer from certain NPC's in BG1 compared to BG2 will simply change to their original BG2 values or not?
No. See above.

Again, see my first comment above. Everything happens as though you are in the same game, even though you clearly aren't.
Thansk for the clarification I got it now!

Cool. Since you marked the topic as a question, and if you are satisfied, you might consider marking it solved. :)
I play BGT now

Imoen has the same stats in BG1 and BG2
But the stats of Minsc and Jaheira go up from BG1 to BG2.
This time I use the cannon party in BG1 (me (fighter/mage), Imoen, minsc, Dyneheir, Jaheira, Khalid).
Looks like it might be better to remove Minsc and Jaheira after the battle with Sarevok and get
them back with their BG2 stats. The little difference in exp is not so important.

I keep Imoen a pure thief in BG1 and dual her to mage once I find Yoshimo.
I need a thief in the first part of the dungeon.
These extra thief levels will not effect her magic skills later in the game
but she has better skills and profiencies.

I use the books for myself because its game over when I die while I can revieve the others.

If you use the Tweak Pack there is an option to give consistent (BG2) stats in BG1, which negates this.
I have already started the game (with BG1 stats) and don´t want to do everything again.
You can always use Shadowkeeper (a save editor) to change their stats appropriately.
Maybe I do it after beating Sarevok.
This way I play BG1 with the Bg1 chars and Bg2 with the BG2 chars.

Lets assume we did some training after beating Sarevok and before being captured by Irenicus.
