Hey everyone, Sony is now offering two free PS4 games on their store for their "Play At Home Initiative". In my region it's Uncharted the Nathan Drake Collection and Journey. You don't need a PS Plus subscription or even a PS4. I just added the games to my old account I used for my Playstation Portable via their web store.

This could be useful if you want to pick up a cheap used PS4 after the PS5 hits or maybe just want to see how the Playstation Store library integration on GOG Galaxy 2.0 works.

Get the games before the offer ends on May 5th.

Nice, I already have the drake collection hard copy. They are good games, really capturing the Indiana Jones type gameplay. Would recommend them, and at free you can’t go wrong! The fourth wasn’t as great, but the separate adventure with the two gals was actually better, even having a bit more open world feel (it wasn’t, just felt like it).
The other one I have not heard of, but for free will try it out.
Weirdly, this made me aware of some dingleberry in the UK who's using my decade+ old username as their PSN ID. They've got 7 games linked to their profile and appear to have really loved Hitman Absolution.

Ok, but what does that mean:

"As part of our PlayAtHome campaign, you can download and keep this game for free. Download before May 5th 8:00 PM PDT."

How do I download the games if I don't have PS4, which I don't? To me the wording suggests that you can download the games to your PS4 for free before May 5 and keep playing them on that PS4, but the games will not remain in your account after that (ie. you can't re-download and re-install them later).

I don't have a PS4 and I am not actively planning to get one either, but just in case... who knows, maybe my rich nephew dies and leaves me his PS4 as a inheritance (not HERITAGE, as someone pointed out to me thanks, I almost made a fool of myself there. phew).

I think that text is written for a typical PS4 user and not totally accurate. I got the games added to my PSN account without a PS4. These games seem to be treated like normal PSN game purchases but for $0.

Sony has a web store front for games similar to GOG or Steam that you can use from a normal computer. You'll need to create an account. I don't think you need to input a payment method. You can see your games library under your profile in something they call a "Download List". How to get those downloads into your console differs by machine but usually it will be the console doing the downloading.

I don't have a PS4 or even a PS3 yet but Sony does have a few nice exclusives I'd like to try. PS3s are cheap now but I've been thinking it might be better to borrow my sister's old unit or maybe my brother's dusty launch PS4.

I guess it doesn't hurt to try. After all, what is the worst that could happen? Nothing! Nothing is the worst that could happen!

At least I can then brag how I own PS4 games without owning the console. And who knows, maybe some day, somehow, somewhere...
Done.

Now I'm kinda itching to buy a PS4, daaaamn...
Journey is a dual PS3/PS4 game as well. So even if you only have a PS3 you will be able to download that version using this offer, and if you get a PS4 later you would then be able to use that version.
