Okay, I just bought a new gaming PC with Windows 11 installed. Games that open with dosbox seem to work fine, but my other gog games will not open at all. Any ideas of how to resolve this?
No posts in this topic were marked as the solution yet. If you can help, add your reply
need more details, what happens when you try to open the game?
maybe something is missing would like to hear more.
Since there is all kinds of dependicies it needs for some games to work.
Did you by chance install the directx 9.0c redistributable?
Only if you are playing some older games
Than there is net framework and microsoft visual c++ redistributables which i think you need to install both x64 and x 86 ones

Please offer more details, we might have a better understanding then. Are you getting any errors due to missing dependencies?
I just now tried opening these games, it turns out that some needed to be opened in compatibility mode. Examples of games that will still not open with compatibility settings: Incoming, Incoming Forces, realMyst... I don't believe anything is missing, I think it's a compatibility issue.

Well on the store page it says Incoming only works up to windows 8 but maybe the forum could say more for Incoming if you search it's forum.
Real myst does say it works on win 11 and you may get support if you need it for something, but would check if the myst forum has something about it.
Well one thing i know is to not install games in program files rather something of it's own folder.
And yes incoming could be a compability issue, anyway did you try to restart your pc when you installed some games.
And i have windows 10 not 11

another day, another problem! its a nightmare! we bought old titles with the implicit promise, that gog ensures that they will work out of the box with current hard- and software. but for years gog doesn't give a sh#t about that. you're on your own buddy. best thing is to boycott gog. i don't buy here since mid 2016.

And despite that you are still here, I must say it's really nice of you to allow GOG to live rent free in your head all these years, other people would have kicked them out and moved on.

thats cause i'm a very nice person
The original Incoming game WORKS on Win 11, it turns out I just had to mess around with the compatibility settings a little more, I think the high dpi settings made the difference. My ps2 controller is fully compatible with it as well :)
However, Incoming Forces and realMyst are still not opening.

Hate to point out the obvious, but your problem is Windows 11. It was seriously broken before it hit the market and as it wasnt even needed in the marketplace anyway. Adding nothing most people need. There is little to no reason for the general masses to get behind it.

That said. Consider the fact that they arent interested in anything 32bit. Gog is very unlikely to care either. Paying people to get games to work in windows 11 is unlikely. They dont even hire customer service staff to deal with their own website and customers that pay thousands of dollars and euros.

Your best option is to return the machine for a refund. Perhaps downgrade the os to windows 10. Save what you need. Wipe the drive. Install windows 10 and if the key doesnt work, buy a new key. Preferably from a legit source like bestbuy.

Cant blame gog for microsft sucking hard.

Fix for Incoming Forces: Go to the pcgamingwiki website. Then find Incoming Forces and read where it says "Issues fixed".
Well, so far is just realMyst the one that is not working, but some post recommend to launch the game woth Windows XP Service Pack 3 compatibility mode. I don't have the game or W11 to test it, so let me know if it works!

Another recommendation, unistall Windows 11 and install Windows 10, it's polished enough and works better.

anything that works on 10 works on 11, it's literally the same under the hood just with a new UI and features. gog is known to sell games that dont work even at launch so they arent perfect.
