There is no way this should be allowed. Hopefully more and more people get booted off servers for doing this. Many do it when they are leveling accounts to sell which is another thing to be frowned upon.

It think it will become a moot point now that finally there seems to be a push for standalone levelling bots. Even Sony were trying to patent something similar. If people don't want to level normally or cheat properly then it would be a good third option.
