In with the first Gin Blossoms reference! :-)
The last Silent HIlls prototype looked very interesting but this game should give more or less the same expirience with even better graphics. Call me hyped.

CharlesGrey: I'd rather see a Horror game with a strong focus on atmosphere and story, where you're not spending hours whacking the same creatures on the head, or hiding in closets/under beds until the monsters walk away.
Play Scratches whenever becomes available agsin here on Gog
Visiting a basement, whith no enemies in sight became easily a terrifying experient just based on atmosphere, story and música/dound effects.
Kinda torn on this. Of all things, they try to use the first person that P.T. did and that was only a demo and not what the game was likely to be like ( why start first person for Silent Hill now? ...er... other than certain newer games... *glares* ).

So it looks more similar to current "Youtube bait" that's already out there. I fear the ideas they have for the story are going to get overshadowed and just a "haunted house simulator" than what they're claiming it to be.
Looks interesting. I'll back it if they do DRM-Free.
They seem to usually go for the DRM route when they do kickstarters like that. ...would get more attention if DRM and DRM-free were both offered straight up.

ScotchMonkey: This will be the closest thing we will get to a fully realized Silent Hills.

Here is some gameplay of the prototype, you can see how much like P.T it is.

One of the the only two games that have scared me in almost 12 years. Lets see if we can help them out eh?
Backed. Thanks for the heads up!
It looks a solid game. I wish it the best !
They updated FAQ at bottom of their page today, and confirmed it will NOT be DRM-free ) :

Pity. It looks a great game, but I won't back it while it has DRM in it.
And interest lost.
Once upon a time, not stating your kickstarter as drm-free would seriously damage your odds of succeding. Then, along came projects targetted for console users nostalgia instead, and the whole paradigm changed. Nowadays people don't even care.
It's their loss.
"No, it will not be DRM free at this moment, not for this Kickstarter. But perhaps sometime in the future. Lets see."

Yay... Then maybe "sometime in the future" I'll buy a copy. Let's see.

5-6 hours playtime doesn't sound like much, either, but then again, most of the classic Survival Horror games were fairly short as well.
'Look ma, no hands!'

So what happens if he equips the meat cleaver?

It looks nice but bland... I'm not impressed by what I've seen. Instead of constantly examining random objects, reading aloud, turning on the tap, testing the toaster (etc.) and leisurely studying the interior of his own house the actions and reactions of the pothead protagonist should have given some kind of proper short introduction to the story. I know it's just a prototype gameplay but it's presented as a teaser and as such it ought to pique the interest of potential backers. Personally, I'm not interested in the slightest.

Apparently, the protagonist is only troubled by his headache and doesn't give a damn about all the locked doors and weird shenanigans as all he ever responds to are dirty dishes, his full bladder and pictures of people he doesn't seem to recognize.

Whatever, I'll probably pick it up on a dollar bundle years down the road.

On a similar note, if it hasn't already been shared, Jim Sterling did some very funny (imo) riffing on the gameplay trailer:
