Hello!

I've created a wish in "Features" section of Community Wishlist: (can't post links, so search for "pay full price", i'm the only one yet).

Some points i want to mention again in case my bad English is too bad. And one (third) i forgot to mention in the wish:
1. I'm buying games with discounts.
2. I want to support authors of some games by paying full price.
3. I want to play (or finish even) most games before i pay full price for it.
3.5. I'm not always willing to wait until a discount is over in other cases.
4. I don't want to overpay (so, i don't want to return already owned games and buy them again).

So, i want to buy games with discounts and i want an option to pay a difference between full price and what i've already payed for the game. If you have the same wish, please vote. If you have something to say about this idea, please do so.

you can buy a game you already own as a gift
It does seem to be an good idea. The big developers all offer various forms of merchandise too if you want to flower their bank accounts for what ever reason. Other idea's might be to buy the game again on a different platform just for the sake of it, or advertise like hell for them

Most developers sell their games from their website, which is the best way to support them.
Buying games from gog on the other hand will only support the CCP in assimilation of your country and sterilzing all non Han Chinese.

That post makes no sense, GOG belongs to a Polish company.

Try before you buy, can sort of be a good idea, but .................

What you are suggesting doesn't make a lot of sense considering currently available options, and adds a lot of unnecessary complexity for the GOGmeisters.

1. You can currently buy a game (on sale or after) and return it within a month if you don't like it. I've never done this, so be sure to check all the conditions first.

2. You don't have to buy during a sale.

3. You can't buy games more than once, except as a gift.

4. If you really want to support the game after testing with a sale price, just buy another copy (gift) for someone else, or buy something else from the DEV/PUB.

5. GOG sometimes have a demo of the game or the DEV/PUB website has one if you are lucky. That may be the best way to try a game, and then pay full price when not on a sale.
I buy games that I already own and like a couple of times a year, sending the codes to friends and/or family for their birthday/Christmas. Who knows, maybe they like the game as well and buy gift codes on their own later.
If you like some particular game publisher, invest in them directly instead of funding game stores. Cut out the middleman, as it were.
Nice idea, I voted for your wish.

If you want to give money to a dev,, there are methods like Patreon which will make sure they get much more of the money. Paying more for a game on GoG means GoG get's more of your money too.

Also if you feel like giving money, there are many worthy charities to give money to.

And like others have mentioned, you can always just buy another copy of the game. You could also just wait till a sale ends. I don't see any use for a option to pay full price with so many other options around. Keep in mind programing something like this will require resources of GoG that could go to other things.

I don't want to overpay. Even if i ignore that i've already paid part of price for the game, i can't ignore that gifts are more expensive than bying my own copy (don't know, maybe it's a regional thing, but, for example, "Horizon Zero Dawn" as a gift worth 30% more).

> What you are suggesting doesn't make a lot of sense considering currently available options

I'm suggesting to add a new option. Which will be profitable both for authors and GOG.

Probably not a very bad thing: i prefer to keep my collection at one place and GOG is the best alternative to steam right now (i'm actually choose steam because they're investing in linux gaming, but i want them to have some competition).

Thanks!

I think we all get that, but like I said, doesn't make a lot of sense to add that complexity, when you can kind of do what you want now.

Buy the game when on sale, and trial it for almost a month.
If you loved it, get a refund just before the month is up.
Then buy the game again immediately at full price. The sale and discount will be long over by then.

What of Patreon and charities? If you want to give GoG more money, you could buy a game exactly as much as the difference between sale and regular price, or whatever. I don't understand why it has to be some exact number.

Can you just return a game with GoG if just under a months time, no questions asked? I didn't think GoG did that. I thought you could only return a game if there was something specifically wrong with it or something.

I mean one could just keep a copy of the game considering GoGs launcher independent install 'system', if it really worked as you described there could be heavy exploitation, which suggests it does not work like that.

GOG changed their policy to be more user friendly a while back, and there are several threads that discuss that, which I have read at various times, but not done any refunding myself. No mention of there needing to be something wrong, and that can be subjective anyway, and they wouldn't sell a game if there was something too wrong error wise ... they'd either fix it or stop selling it until it was.

Here are the official policies.

Of course, it can be abused, but as they say, they review it, especially in regard to a specific user doing it too much.

Logic says, that refunding and then buying for full price, would never be an issue, providing you build up a good track record, i.e. you buy many more overall than you permanently return.
