Yeah, enjoy the forum while you still can, folks.

I could have fun at an insurance seminar.

It's all in your attitude. :D

Like my grandmother used to say to me, "I know what it's called, but you're not supposed to blow!"

The_Gypsy: That'd be a sensible plan and nobody likes those anymore. Judging by the lack of communication from GOG and the lackluster excuses when they violated user privacy I don't think they care.
What did you expect? Their attitude was already in full force during the introduction of GOG Galaxy.

You can tone down the madness of the front page if you block all communication from GOG to Youtube (no more autoplaying videos) and block the top huge banner, but it's still looking odd and not right to me. News should be at the very top of the page in full text and not at the bottom hidden beneath some buttons for reading challenged users.

Currently, the only thing keeping me going to GOG is its forum, but the store .. not anymore.

Got to say I hate the new news. All pictures and no text. I have to click to find out if it is my sort of game. Usually it isn't. Maybe I'm just too old for this site now.

ped7g: I did check my recent habits, and I changed way I use GOG after update...
Now I basically ignore store-front, and go just into "community" to check forums, then wishlist and games list (for sales of WL items, and updates of games I own ... eer... "have in library").

Sounds like a good deal for GOG, I wonder how I will notice something interesting is added to the store. :D

Anyway, the amount of moving parts (auto-play videos, paralax/dynamic layout, animation of layouts transitions) is way beyond my taste, it's now very difficult to read the site for me, as it contains so much clutter which I usually just switch off (if it's like effect animation in OS), so I'm not used to work with such mess.

And the bad things about previous design change did stay, like the changelogs scrollable in small sub-view fighting for scrolling focus with whole page, etc...

I already disliked the previous design a lot, and the new one is definitely worse for me.
It's a terrible design and, for me, has slowed the site down so much it's taking forever for a page to load. Plus, it's difficult to find the things I used to easily be able to find before as they are either not where they used to be, or the navigation is now abysmal.

I'm actually going to open a Steam account for the first time ever. I'm just finding it much faster to find the games I want over there, and don't have the time to waste here waiting for pages to load. Hate Steam's DRM but my life is too busy to mess around with GOG's new design.

sorry GOG, but I think you lost me.

Wow, since I don't see them anymore hadn't even checked. Opened in another browser now and... wow, 2-3 lines of text about the game in a release news post. Seriously?

Sadly we keep putting up with them, maybe for the continued lack of a less bad place, maybe out of misplaced remaining hope that they'll turn back around, maybe out of simple inertia... Remember you saying you'll leave after the "good news" back then too. I should have done that too (leave, not just say it, I mean). But here we are, so they keep getting away with it :/ Then again, at this point their main audience are the regular mindless masses, so us discerning customers with values and clear demands wouldn't be missed, likely quite the opposite.

Kind of. In this case I think they'll look at the feedback and change things. They'll make the site more mobile friendly (important for business) and they'll probably improve the visibility of the New section (which is really shit right now), because people don't notice new releases this way.

What I really didn't get was the profile debacle. I mean, why not leave them disabled by default and just make it BIG NEWS that you can enable them? People who are interested in this will enable them right away, and all other people will either follow or not.
I mean, what use are profiles of people who don't care about them? GOG already has the data. Nobody but third party bot cares about them. I kind of like the feature, but many don't and instead of making all people happy (let me decide) GOG made a few people happy and put a ton of people off.

Are you using intuition and logic for a business decision? XD
I actually quit like it, especially the review filter.

My only problem is that the news section is at the very bottom of the main page, it should be above (or at most right below) now on sale section, also we need special banner to the dailies deals so we could different them from other sales.

tfishell: GOG will never win, mainly with their crotchety forum users both young and old who are too personally and emotionally invested in GOG and who thought GOG would change and unite the industry and all the flower children of the world would dance in harmony. or something

thank u.

I actually agree that some of the changes are annoying, my comment was a knee-jerk reaction to everyone always complaining whenever there's a change.

Some of us are not complaining about the change. Some of us are complaining that it doesn't function as a site anymore.

In IE11, my name at the top indicating my account isn't there (I have to go to the forums first in order to do anything), screenshots on the game page reviews are missing, news is missing, the 'Now On Sale' bit only shows 5 games because the scroll arrows don't work, can't search the store by genre, price, or anything else. There's probably other things I'm forgetting right now. But it's only GOG that I have these problems with.

If GOG want us to buy stuff from them, they really should make sure that their site works properly.
With google creating censorship engine for china and using "good censor" in the rest of the world, you would think that people wouldnt become even more dependent on it. google owns youtube.

So why does gog makes itself dependant on youtube trailers? google is evil. Why get even more dependant on its services? What a joke..

Dislike it and will result in fewer purchases. I formed the habit to look at the sales list view to the right, where I could see the genre, original release year, price, price reduction, already bought (gray) state all at one glance. This view has gone and I can't find a way to quickly get the same information. That will result in fewer impulse buys.

Now I see just pictures, pictures, pictures. I have to hover over them, click them. Too many actions required, too much time wasted. A Picture can be nice sometimes, but rarely is relevant for my purchase decision.

I am 50+, maybe I am just too old for this way of presenting information. Yes, "the future is mobile". But GOG doesn't sell mobile.

The fact that my reviews were apparently black-balled has left a really sour taste in my mouth. Type of shit would never in million years happen with Valve.
