ResidentLeever: While I prefer the CD ver. of War1's instrumentation and overall mixing, only the the first track seems to use stereo mixing oddly enough. So the GM one has its advantages.
I wasn't aware there were CD tracks in the game... but according to this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOV-VbRzxaU
https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=16554&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

apparently there were, but they just couldn't be enabled within the game, only listen with a CD player?

If it is those tracks in the youtube video, to me it sounds like it is the same General MIDI files played, but with some other synthesizer (than Roland SCC-1/SC-55). I wonder which synthesizer?

EDIT: Oh, the CD music plays (only) in the Mac version of the game? Oh well...

Wait, I forgot to put System Shock in the poll list. I'm a pathetic creature

Interesting, didn't know it worked in-game on Mac only. I didn't own the first game back in the day.

IXOXI: It was released on October 10, 1994...

Did I miss something?
Nope, sorry for the confusion. You didn't miss anything - OMF was indeed released in 1994.

It's an insider joke pointing to Tyrian, which was released a year later. One Musn't Fall is the name of one of its background tracks :).
