Does it have to be based on the same story or just characters from a movie? And does it have to be a movie or would TV series count as well?

Anyway, for nostalgic reasons, I'll start with this:
Ghostbusters (David Crane/Activision, 1984) :D

Mad Max is.

2015 (already ?), Avalanche. There.
The Chronicles of Riddick (Escape from Butcher Bay, 2004, Starbreeze/Vivendi)

Feel free to share anything you see fit.

For me, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is good enough to be here, but its story and some characters are original.
The Godfather (Electronic Arts, 2006)

Speak Softly, Love - Andy Williams

Speak softly, love so no one hears us but the sky
The vows of love we make will live until we die
My life is yours and all because
You came into my world with love so softly love

Ok, then I'll go with:
South Park - The Stick of Truth (Obsidian, 2014)
The Stalker series:

Loosely based on Andrei Tarkovsky's eponymous film adaptation of the novel "Roadside Picnic" by the Strugatsky brothers.

"Dream" sequence

And the complete film, officially available in Russian right here.

Solaris as well, by the way:

Part 1
Part 2
TRON 2.0 (Monolith - 2003), a game sequel that's better than the 2010 movie sequel (also one of the first game I've bought here).

Definitely Blade Runner. It captures the film's atmosphere perfectly, perhaps even managing to actually enhance it. Best adventure game I've ever played by a very long way, and mostly on atmospheric points alone. Case and point, the infamous balcony scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xClTppAGe9A

Sunsoft's 1989 Batman: The Video Game for the NES was an excellent game.

Gameplay.
ECHO:

Hasn't been officially confirmed to my knowledge, but I could imagine that the devs took inspiration for the interior architectural design in ECHO from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Beyond the infinite.

True.

In a lesser way, as we accept general franchises, I found Indy captured better in Emperor's Tomb than in Atlantis.

Happy to hear it since I'm a big Atlantis fan and am still looking forward to trying out Emperor's Tomb. Atlantis also does a pretty good job of capturing the films' atmosphere through clever use of John Williams' music. I can only imagine how great a Tomb Raider type game can be if properly utilizes the series' amazing soundtrack., or at least music based off of it.
