2025
- Planetfall - Michael Mammay 9/10 Military scifi.
- Wheel of Time book 1 (in two volumes) From the Two Towers: 10/10, To the Blight 9/10; 9.5/10 overall) - Robert Jordan.
- Spy Mom - Beth McMullen 10/10 Sally Sin, a 30-year-old former spy for a secretive alphabet ("research") agency, is plagued by old friends and enemies in her new life of marriage and raising a 2 year old. This two-novel volume is hilarious, filled with dry humor and relatable events. I'm not a mom, but some scenarios screamed "this sort of thing could (theoretically) really happen" and others reminded me of the reactions of moms i know. Mixed in are flashbacks to The Old Days, which provide a backdrop to the hair-raising events of Today. I loved it--so did my dad. highly recommend.
- Misfit Soldier - Michael Mammay 9.5/10 I loved it. Hilarious and relatable. Military Scifi comedy that rivals the best. Recommend.
- The Whimsical World of Father Juniper - 7/10 This is a book of one-page, one-panel comics of the life of a young boy in training to be a priest. Funny.
Via Audiobooks:
- Will Save the Galaxy for Food by Yahtzee Croshaw (read by the author) 9/10 hilarious (dry humor) scifi/space opera. Highly recommend. A jaded starpilot, a hanger-on from the "golden age" is broke, reminiscing about the "good old days" ois in legal trouble when he is hired to impersonate the most-loved (by fans of his books) and most-hated (by fellow pilots whose stories he stole) starpilot of them all -- Jacque McKeown. Unknwon to him, he is playing the role in from of th ebiggest, baddest mafia man from earth. Adventures ensue.
- Barry J Hutchinson's Space Team Volume 11 (maybe 9 & 10? Maybe part or all of his spinoff Dan Deadman books? I don't recall.) The last human has adventures in space on a spaceship with a blue-skinned pilot, 7-ft-tall cyborg, wolf-woman, and an adorable sentient telepathic green blob "Splurt." Abssolutely hilarious series. I highly recommend the Graphic Audio adaptation (mild language warning)
- Michael Anderle - Queen Bitch 5/10. Good story, too much swearing/language for my taste. Not one i could listen to around kids.Thankfully this vampire isn't the tired old trope, but is instead alien technology.
-Once Upon a Christmas Carol - Karen Schaler 8/10. A Christmas-mystery-meets-hallmark-movie. A singer goes back to her hometown for Christmas. Musical Christmas cards quote songs and lead her on a chase to find the answers. Complete with an outstanding 17 minute soundtrack of the various Christmas carols, played by a NY Philharmonic violinist and a concert pianist. (unless it is the pianist who works for the Phil?
Last year and/or this year:
- Drew Hayes: Superpowereds series. 5 books via Graphic Audio. Highly enjoyed. Five Powereds (Supers who cannot control their powers; they are looked down on by Supers and regular humans alike) have a procedure done and infiltrate the Hero Certification Program at lander University. Graduates of this program become Superheroes. I loved this series.
In progress

- Wheel of Time Book 2, Volume 1 "The Hunt Begins" - Robert Jordan - good so far.
