Orkhepaj: Oh is this game that old?:O
Cave Story dates back to one of the genesis of indie games back in the 2000s. Even La-Mulana isn't that old.
Whats the big deal?

Niggles: Whats the big deal?
Cave Story is historicaly a very important game, and a classic. When it came out, it showed that it is possible for a single inde developer to make a successful commercial game on par with AAA studios, and is part of making the whole inde game indutry start. It also re-started metroidvania as a genre, and the 2D platformer at the same time. In other words, it had, and still have, major impact on the game industry as it is today, as well as the games we have .

it is also a very good game

Too bad Nicalis screwed over its creator. POS indie publisher.
I can confirm that this game runs without the Epic Launcher.
I think i remember downoading a homebrew instance of cavestory for a PSP emulator.
The Switch version is now the definitive version of the game and I already have this on PC via humble bundle, but this is good enough for anyone who still hasn't played it and doesn't want to give the asshats at Nicalis any money.
