From the title of the thread it is obvious that I am bit excited regarding the upcoming Summer sale.

But since we don't have any clear indication concerning when the sale is going to begin, I thought that it might be interesting to ponder on a few things related to the sale.

Firstly, what is that one title which you are eagerly waiting to buy in the upcoming sale, and what makes that game special to you?

Secondly, do you want to highlight any game that you feel doesn't get the attention it deserves, and should be made part of the Summer sale?

Thirdly, what are the formats that you would like to see implemented in the sale by GOG? Purchase tier based bonuses? Bundles? Flash sales? Anything else?
Not what I want, but what I don't want:

NO MORE INSOMNIA SALES!!!!
No endlessly-rotating ''flash sales'' like that one time that was the absolute worst sale format I've seen.
No ''mystery bundles'', let the customer know what they're paying money for.
Good, non-repeating flash sales are fine, I'm kind of glued to my machine anyway.
A new round of GOG Connect has been hinted at, so I hope there will be something on there for me. Though I suppose the blue might have been hinting at Galaxy 2.0 instead. It was a couple months ago.
1. I personally am waiting for a sale on Terraria. It was on my wishlist for a long time, but I finally am looking forward to play it.
Also a good deal on Dead Cells would be nice.

2. The Tiny Bang Story is a fun little hidden object game that I find very charming. It is not that long and doesn't do anything unique. But is a small well developed title, with a very charming art style. The atmosphere is very relaxing.

3. I personally hope for a XP based tier system where purchase based bonus games are awarded.

Most of all Hand of Fate 2, because I absolutely loved the first one. One of the most fun gaming experiences of the past 5 years for me. Same goes for Divinity Original Sin 2, but even on sale I likely won't be able to buy both, and if I have to choose I'll go with HoF2.

Secondly some point & click adventure games, like Rainswept, Tsioque or Detective Gallo. They all look like some classic P&C fun in fresh packaging, which is exactly what I love.

Ghost of a Tale. It's the single best game I own on GOG, the best new game I played in I don't know how many years. It's a It is a little golden miracle of a game, unlike any other I know, a class onto itself in terms of worldbuilding, storytelling and immersion. And if that wasn't enough, it's hauntingly beautiful to look at as well.

Just discount games. Nothing else. No gimmicks, no insomnia, no mystery games shot-in-the-dark crap, no collecting points... just give me good prices and let me buy games without making that into a game onto itself. If GOG wants to give something away as a freebie that's great, but make it as simple and no strings attached as possible. No "check out Galaxy" and "subscribe to our channel/tweet about the sale" for extra points bullshit.

I'm really looking forward in getting Wasteland 2. I really hope I'll have enough time to play it properly, and not just start it and then have to take a break from it for a week or so, only to come back and discover I don't exactly remember what I was doing. Getting enough continuous free time to properly play a RPG is almost impossible for me at this time.
1. None. Would only buy games with no regional price hikes (not just here, but in any region) and just have a few of those left on wishlist and none I'm particularly interested in. At most, may end up getting a little something for the community giveaway, or (highly unlikely, but happened once, so...) maaaaaybe something for a trade, but again, only as long as whatever I'll purchase won't have regional price hikes, and also as long as the codes for the game(s) I'll trade for will already be purchased, so I won't cause a game with regional price hikes to be bought either.

2. Out of those I already played, or am playing? Somewhat newer stuff, Lords of Xulima can be interesting for the right kind of player, but guide is VERY useful, and the talisman is handy too, so that's one where the Deluxe Edition really is very preferable. Tropico 3 (with the expansion) and Tropico 4 (with DLCs but not necessarily including Modern Times) are all right too. Wouldn't call Ember bad either, though it has plenty of flaws (and skills determined solely by gear? seriously?). Older ones not in the top 100 all time sales? Hmm... Risen isn't bad either, neither is the first Two Worlds, maybe Age of Wonders 2, Anachronox if played with a guide to not need to do the pixel hunting, maybe Septerra Core, maybe The Bard's Tale (2004) for something more humorous, maybe Evil Islands mainly for the crafting system, I'd clearly say Homeworld 2 but really don't want to support overpriced remasters... Probably don't need to mention Betrayal at Krondor or King's Bounty: The Legend (though, judging by sales position, maybe I do).

3. The concept of insomnia remains interesting, but doubt they'll do it again now that they're just another mainstream store. Could do with rotating flash deals if they do it smartly, I'd say either 5 batches of 6-hour deals repeated 4 times (total: 5 days - fitting for a one-week sale with the last 2 days being the "finale") or 4 batches of 8-hour deals 3 times (total: 4 days, fitting for a two-week sale, with 3 rounds like this and a 2-day "finale"), so each batch will appear in each hourly slot eventually. Also badges or XP that may also add to greater rewards for purchases but should add up to the first tier free game with no purchase (or installation of Galaxy! or social media interaction, or other such things) necessary, so for logging in daily or other basic stuff done strictly on the GOG site. A scavenger hunt may be interesting too.
And I'd really want a return to the contests they used to make on forums (questions on forums, answers by e-mail, ofc), like those with riddles, questions, finding game names in the block of letters, stuff like that, properly announced in advance so people will know when to be ready and with first X getting a guaranteed prize and draws for some more picked from the others who sent all correct answers within 12h or something like that. But that's another thing I doubt they'll do again...

PS: 3a. What I do NOT want to see, on the other hand, are gambling purchases, mystery games/bundles. And also no rewards tied to using Galaxy or using social media, or anything 3rd party for that matter.

My contemplation is that it won't begin until we're actually in Summer.

paladin181: ... Summer...
That is why we can contemplate on the sale while we wait for it.

:)

In this side of the world Summer is supposed to come to an end in June, as Monsoon arrives. :p
Speaking of Summer.
When I woke up about five hours ago, it was hovering around 35F.

Now it's 74.

How does that happen? :P
Shit, we had nine inches of snow LAST WEEK!!! XD
I'm hoping the summer sale will only include games that I already own or am not interested in. I have no money, and yet I spend way too much money on games here (in lieu of food & clothing). That browser plugin that shows how much total cash has been spent here is kind of depressing. I guess I have no impulse control.

Still super butt hurt about not getting a freebie someone else did I see. Envy is not an attractive quality. I’ve never gotten anything from any of the giveaways that weren’t store wide either, but I don’t complain. Complaining just makes you look like a snowflake.
The only game I really want to get is Night in the Woods...for now. :P

Sticking to cash helps a lot. Just take what you know you can spend when you go out, use prepaid cards for on-line stuff, can't spend what you, well, can't spend. And seeing the physical money helps in itself.
