Can you please UPDATE Dark Reign 2 and other games that need it to reflect the incompatibility with DIRECT X 7 which is no longer supported by Windows?

This is the community forum. While some GOG staff do lurk about sometimes, it is highly unlikely they will see this post. Please submit a ticket via their support system.

That being said, it seems we are approaching epicly ironic times where older Windows games no longer work on Windows, but work perfectly on Linux (via Wine, our trusty compatibility layer).

If you want to stick with Windows though, you can try WineD3D for Windows.

I run games from that aera without problems on Windows 10, DX7 still works.
You can also still install it, jut make sure you install the current DX after that as well. They might not support it anymore, that does not mean that it won't work.

However, you might want to use dgVoodoo2 (I do that for most 3D games from 1995 - 2005), since some DX dlls worked differently than they do today.

Also keep a Windows 8 DirectInput.dll somewhere, since the Windows 10 DLL was changed. Telltale games crash without warning if a XBox360 gamepad is plugged in.

DX7 is supported, just not shipped with Windows.

(Before anyone asks, it's separate from DirectX 10/11/12 and won't overwrite them).

Dark Reign 2 works flawlessly for me, on Windows 10. But likely there can be some hardware related glitches and that's why GOG doesn't officially states that they support windows 10.

As mentioned, these games work fine. Make sure you enable legacy support for direct play in windows features, and install dx9.
