This announcement kinda came out of nowhere, but Degica announced today that they'll be bringing Eschatos to the PC. The game is a shmup, and one that has more in common with early '90s shooters than the bullet hell games we see so often today. And people really like it.

The developer said:

I am incredibly proud to announce that we'll be releasing Qute's Eschatos on PC this September. Eschatos is a fantastic shooter with lots of fan appeal, so we're really thrilled to have the opportunity to bring it to a global audience where more players can have a chance to play it. Cheers!

Expected release date is mid September. Price is still being finalized, but we expect it will be somewhere around 15 USD. The OST is amazing, so yes, we will be offering that as well in lossless FLAC.
JSS and CS are planned, but the details aren't finalized yet (more info when I get it).
He's right about the OST. It's pretty awesome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrcNHERRyCI

As for a GOG release, he said that "... it's planned for Steam first. Obviously we would love to get it on GOG and other places too if they're interested." So, this one's on you, GOG -- don't let us down.

Where is thejimz.
He likes shmup.
Even if gog turns them down (which has now became a thing here) they should release it DRM-free on humblebundle.
Also you can make a wishlist for this game so that we could vote for it.

I also think it's worth noting that the shmups forum, where you'll find quite a few of the people who are super into this genre, wants GOG releases for basically all of Degica's games: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=51133&start=510

There's not as much of a following for this genre on GOG's forums, but even if they're less visible, the dudes on shmups forums are often as pro-GOG as the people here are.
This thread is definitely bump-worthy. I've literally been begging to Blackbird on the shmups forum for both *zeal games, and now this happens... Hope GOG gets these eventually, or I'll finally have to install that damn steam client.
Awesome shmup with awesome BGM.
