FarklesDoggo: That's what I meant. I like the map style gameplay of DC1 more than the run through areas and collect points style. Though I admit there is some appeal here and there in DC2.
Ahh yes, I understand, sometimes I'm a bit slow. So, DC 2 is basically "run around collecting stuff" from start to finish. The gameplay only changes in two or three points (or more, I don't remember now): When Dylan takes over the boat's machine gun and has to fire bullets at some sea dinosaurs; when he takes over the machine gun (again) from a car, and must do the same but this time with 2 or 3 Triceratops; and when he takes on a tank (thank God for a little change) to try to kill the T-Rex.

The ship's (a govt exploration ship) databanks contain kirk's research, which the AI used/uses to make dinos after the crew died
(end spoiler)
Interesting... This premise seems like a parallel reality of System Shock. XD

Yup. I actually like the slower paced RE style stuff. Of course the "run out of ammo, now ya gotta knife the dinos head on" stuff I could easily do without :)

The "ship found after many years" also reminds me of Event Horizon.

Capcom ended up using the DC 2 arcade formula in RE 4 and continued like that until the franchise started to decline, until they went back to their "roots" with RE 7. I remember it like it was yesterday, all the hate that RE 4 received... Over time it ended up making it a classic.

RE4 has some regular map style areas and inventory, and is a tad less linear than DC2. And yes, RE4 is pretty good. RE5 though, while decent, isn't classic RE enough imo.
Took me a few days, but I finished up both games in the bundle.

Really glad that GOG finally brought these back from the dead. Well, the first one in particular - while it's give and take, the second game is overall a little better on the PS1. Either way, had a great time.

Big fan of these in-depth revival efforts from GOG, and obviously, I'm really glad to see more Capcom stuff here.
Currently on page 18 (out of 209) on the all-time bestsellers list:

Wow... that seems even faster than the RE games reached those heights, unless I'm mistaken. Good to see that the games are doing well - this sorta thing needs to get rewarded.
