I recently watched the entire Marvel movies in chronological order to truly see the process leading to the Infinity WAR. I and my colleague entered a discussion about a few things in Guardians of the Galaxy (GotG) movies and I wanted to ask you, the amazing community of GOG full of wisdom, about your opinions on the matter at hand.

Question1: In the first GotG movie, how could Peter Quill (Aka Star Lord) not know about Thanos and Ronan? They are like the ultimate powers and villains in the galaxy and an outlaw like Peter Quill should know about them. That's like an outlaw on earth not knowing about Donald Trump.

I believe that's the way Marvel tells their stories, in the eye of the characters. Someone doesn't know something and the other person explains to them the situation. And we, audience, learn about it in the process. Marvel used that technique expertly in Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Avengers movies. So it is not that Peter wouldn't know about Thanos or Ronan by now but that's how writers told the story to us.

Question 2: In the first movie there is a scene where Yondu almost killed Peter. But in the second movie, we clearly see that they have a father&son relationship. So I believe that in that scene, Yondu did not actually mean to kill him but to show his men that he has not gone soft. He knew Peter too well and he knew he would say something that would get him out of the situation. His act was just theatrical, dramatic just like when he told Peter his crew wanted to eat a Terran.

What are your opinions on the subject?

lol. Nobody? :)
1. I think Peter just didn't care as long as it didn't affect him. So there are some super-villains. But they are somebody else's problem, so Quill doesn't bother to be informed about them.

2. Of course that was just for show. I thought that was even clear in the first movie from the way Yondu acted.
What they made a movie too? I had thought it was restricted to jumping in on any negative post about galaxy, but a whole movie!!

1. If super villains published their identities then the Nova Corps etc. would be a bit more aware. I think we can assume that there was a certain amount of skulduggery, deceit and distraction. Especially given the lengths Thanos went to to use middlemen to hide his motives from the avengers. Ronan - yeah he was in the news, but given at the start he doesn't know the name of the girl he just slept with, I think we can assume that Starlord isn't up on current events.

2. You see that in the first movie too. For example where he's laughing at getting the troll.
