Hello just curious if the big sales and influx of users on the site or servers can affect my download speeds? I'm having trouble keeping 11 or 12 mb/s to instal a game I missed playing through Gog Galaxy, it goes down to as low as 0.2. No i don't use any third-party program or anything in the background and I have no malware etc, This only happens to me on Gog and today it seems. Cheers for any help or info!

It usually does. At least at the start of a sale or really popular release. Lots of traffic, lots of downloads at the same time I guess.

It's a logical conclusion. You buy something, you download it. More people buying, more people downloading, more server load.

0.2 megabytes/s (or megabits/s?) still sounds quite low to come only for high usage at that point of time...

I just tried downloading "setup_disaster_report_4_summer_memories_1.05_(39590)-1.bin" (4GB) right now with the Chrome browser and it comes down briskly at about 50 megabytes/s (which I think is around 400 megabits/s?). Naturally I don't know if I was merely lucky and got connected to a speedy download server, while Canadians and/or Galaxy users get connected to some much more congested server.

Either way, I don't think 0.2 download speeds from professionally run download servers are something normal to be expected, even during big sales.

Download speed of GOG is unusually slow today.
I regularly update my offline installers, and the speed was not so slow yesterday, or during past sales.
It is a bug that GOG have to fix.

For me everything is fine. Getting 16 MB/s without any hiccups. So seems like central europe is okay speedwise atm.

It can be all over the shop when a big sale is on, and will be dependent on time zones etc.
