For anyone that hasbt seen they opened up preorders with a December release. I would gladly preorder if I could on GoG, but sadly its only open to the other two... GoG please work on getting this! I loved the first game and Ive been waiting a long time for this sequel. Im sure Im not alone

Knowing Techland I'd rather wait for a final, complete release. They have to come up with all sorts of DLCs for several years. Also, seeing this Platinum Edition of the first game and no upgrade option, plus a ridiculous base price, there is no chance I would settle for anything other than a complete edition. If it's going to be any good that is.

Let's just not pre-order, m-kay? Pre-order is bbbbb... bad.

Haven't we figured that out by now, guys? Wait for the final release, reviews and so on. Less hype, less disappointment.

Have a look at what they pulled today with the original game, and your going to trust them with money up front. The first game is a great game, does not mean we should finance anti consumer practices which are rife in the industry.

Why in God's name does pre-ordering matter with digital delivery? Even if it has some bonus attached to it you can still get it the day before.

could be a case of "i can spare / spend the money now". not everybody has a fluid disposeable income.

I think we should be cautious; if Techland didn't consider the sales worthwhile they might not want to bother with GOG again, unfortunately.

That said, didn't Dying Light 1 take a while to show up here after the Steam release date?

I agree, but by now it's clear that pre-orders are where the real money is made. So in its own interest and in the interest of those who want to pre-order a game anyway, I think GOG needs to improve this in every possible way.

The Colonial Marines fiasco didn't teach anyone a lesson about effin' preorders and that was amost 10 years ago...

There can be no war without warriors - if people stopped pre-ordering it would help curb this toxic practice. To that end you might just as well say by now it's clear we're going to blow up the planet with climate change, so let's just keep at it. I'd argue for less fatalism and more action, even as an individual, even if only out of spite.

You'll never stop people from pre-ordering without more regulations.

There is a feeling of luxury and exclusivity you get by being the first people to consume content. And there's the fun in discussing the work leading up to its release, during, and the work afterwards similar to weekly TV episodes or tickets to a sports game. And sometimes $65 USD is trivial for 40 hours of content. Compared to other leisure activities like a movie admission, it's very affordable.

Thst being said, the only way preorders trends stop is if everyone gets together and abandons their self-interest of exclusivity or a big distributor puts their foot down (very unlikely), or government regulations step in to protect consumers from these anticonsumer behaviours. Kind of like the prisoners dilemma. But self-interest exists from corporations and elites. Though consumers aren't entirely blame-free since we all know there are plenty of reviewers out there to keep these gamedevs in check - just have to wait a few days after release.
