Strijkbout: Bullfrog: Peter Molyneux's lies would eventually have catched up to him and his company at some point.
Molyneux left Bullfrog after releasing Dungeon Keeper 1.

Strijkbout: Origin Systems: Was already on the brink of bankrupcy when EA took them over.

Strijkbout: Westwood: I highly doubt they would have survived the decline in the RTS genre during the death of PC gaming (7th generation of consoles).
I know they wouldn't. Their organization level in the late 90s was below shit. Which is why their Pacific division lived on in various forms until 2010.

avatar
Strijkbout: Take Looking Glass for example, they made a few games for EA (System Shock 1 & 2) but were never owned by them and they have been long gone.
EA was merely a publisher for System Shock 1/2 and the Flight Unlimited series. They were actually more affiliated with Eidos Interactive, who closed them in 2000.

Strijkbout: Or take the missmanaged mess what is Interplay, they made some of the greatest games and still managed to squander Fallout and look where that game is now.
I always wondered how you can go bankrupt and still live, twice. Then came Atari :P

I'd be perfectly fine with that. Karma strikes back.
Plants vs Zombies Creator Fired by EA for Refusing Pay-to-Win System

EA Games: Ruin Everything!
They should change their name to Excessive Annihilation... Because that is what they are doing to the gaming industry.

He was actually trying to help them make money and they fired him. Because who the fuck would buy a pay to win game?

Every once in a while EA seems to take some consumer friendly action, accompanied soon after by some announcement about turning their way around, and then they're back to their true colors, showing just how despicable they really are. It's almost like the initial consumer friendly action, was a mistake and a bigger surprise for EA, than it was for the customers.

Far too many idiotic customers. All this extorting customers for even more money only works, because there are many, many people out there who, while complaining, still throw money at the big publishers.

"Boohooohooo! Steam is sooo bad! Here, take my money. Uplay is even worse. Let's give them more money. EA is teh worstest! Let's buy all their newest, uninspired games to make them successful! Pay-to-win is atrocious ... now I will give even more money to EA."

Complaining is totally meaningless to big publishers. The only language that actually reaches them is not buying their stuff.

The only place where complaining still works is here on GOG. That's why I like to do it here so much! ;-)

I hope GOG doesn’t take this too personal and changes its name to EA ;).Cheers

I hope so too. I actually like that complaining still works here. Or to put it in more positive terms: that GOG still listens to it's customer base occasionally (if that base gets loud enough). The most recent example were the installers. Yes, it was bad that GOG even attempted to sneak Galaxy on everyone. But at least they reacted to the complaints and rowed back. So I'm still willing to buy games here.

Fully agree on everything you said.GOG is somehow still a safeheaven for us old, grumpy gamers.Have some of that positive rep mate ;).Cheers
It's being reported that Disney is the one who caused the microtransactions to be removed from the game:

Ricky_Bobby: Yes, the media doesn't seem that hyped about Anthem, however we are still a year away from its release date. Plus it's a Destiny/The Division-type of game, with multiplayer and single-player content fused together. My impression is that our gaming media doesn't like these kinds of games.

Gurlok: WAIT, WHAT? Do you mean that Anthem is a MP game with no offline play or, that it has both SP and MP features running at the same time?
It's going to be 100% online, but made so that you can play it solo/single player. Think "Destiny" by Bungie.

Stig79: Bioware is the next one they will close down, I think. And like clockwork they will buy another rpg dev some weeks later. I hope they will stay the hell away from CDPR. Hmm...picture EA owning GoG....
I think I'll pass on paying a micro transaction of $19.95 to have Geralt have sex with Triss Merigold again in The Witcher IV.

Oh for heaven sake, I'm tired about this kind of shite.

Thanks for telling me about this, i'll avoid it like the plague.
