Heads up, the Factorio team posted that there will be a 50% price increase coming on April 16th. They have stated that this game will never go on sale, so if you want it, buy it now.

That alone makes me not want to buy the game. It takes huge balls to increase the price that much on a game that isn't even a 1.0 release.

The no sale policy is also kind of a fuck you to the player base as well.

I look forward to trying the game out, but i have a hard limit of $20 for games.

Though i'd much prefer it's closer to $5.

I have too many games already to worry about paying full price for a game anymore.

Steam has a demo but I don't see it on Gog.

That's a unit of measurement I haven't seen in a while.

As someone who actually owns Factorio, I'm a little shocked at this price increase. Factorio has a lot of things, but I don't think it's a 30 dollar game at all. Actually, I feel it falls more into the 20 dollar bucket neatly.

It is admirable if they have principles (like not going to sales), but I still don't feel like paying 20€ for a genre that normally isn't among my favorite ones.

I am not surprised of the price increase, haven't this happened with some other games as well which exit the in-dev status and become real games?

I kinda like the no-sales approach as many publishers seem to push the default price so high because they expect most will buy only on sales anyway. And I presume the default price of Factorio may come down at some point as well.

Anyway, it is just one game. It is fine if I never buy it. We will see about that.

It does have raving reviews but since I did not enjoy similar games for more than ten minutes, I guess it is not for me.

The Long Dark did the same after it got out of early access. Is this a usual tactic?

See it as getting a discount for beta testing the game. We Happy Few also increased its price and I think there are/were more.

Starbound if I recall did this too, and Minecraft started that whole idea.
