I tried to run Fantasy General through DOSBox and the game loads, however the mouse is way too sensitive and flies around the battle screen.

I set different mouse sensitivities on the config files, and that works on the menu screens, but it seems to have no impact on the battle screen. Any movement down or up moves the view way too much.

Is there another option for moving around the battle screen other than a mouse. I tried WASD or the arrow keys on the keyboard, but they did not seem to work
Did you read this?
This for a lot of DOS games, too slow or too fast and you should adjust the speed of the virtual pc, aka DOSBox.
Which version of DOSBox? The Mac version of Fantasy General uses a relatively recent 64-bit DOSBox, where the cpu config is:

core=auto
cputype=auto
cycles=auto limit 26000

It works well. If you change cycles to just auto without the limit, the scrolling is unplayably fast, as you describe.

DOSBox 0.74 on Windows. Thank you very much for the replies. I did not see that thread when I googled the issue, only stuff on mouse sensitivity

I will certainly give the recommendations a try
