I have a 4K display, but all my HDMI cords are of the 1080p variety. I'm looking for the highest bandwidth HDMI cords I can get my hands on from a reliable brand. After doing a search on Amazon, there are manufacturers selling alleged HDMI 2.1 cords with 48gbps bandwidth, but some of the reviews of those listing seem to call that into question. What would y'all recommend for the best 4K HDR picture quality?

HDMI cables are just a dumb pipe. They don't care (to an extent) what you send through them. There is no such thing as an "HDR HDMI" cable or an "HDMI 2.0" cable. That second one is important. HDMI cables don't have version numbers. The connections have version numbers. So your TV might be "HDMI 2.0a" (and indeed needs to be for HDR), but the cable you plug into it doesn't have a number. It's just an HDMI cable.

There are four basic types of HDMI cables in the home:

* High Speed with Ethernet
* Standard Speed with Ethernet
* High Speed without Ethernet
* Standard Speed without Ethernet

You should be able to get 4K/60, and a basic 8K/30, with current cables, but the rest will need an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable.

I'd suggest a perfectly regular one from say, Monoprice.

Best to get a 2.1 version, especially if the monitor goes above 60 Hz.

I know Club 3D and Belkin are good brands for cables. This is a list with certified products for DisplayPort cables. Maybe there is something similar for HDMI, I don't know. But at least get a HDMI cable from one of those manufacturers in the DisplayPort list.
