Hi all,

Apologies if this has been covered before.

My copy of Sim City 3000 unlimited was not launching from the shortcut. It said the .exe file was missing or had been moved. It was fine yesterday.

As far as I know this is nothing to do with me or anything I have done. Any ideas as to what would cause this? I have since uninstalled the whole game and will look to reinstall.

Thank you.
What might have happened, and what ususaly happens when these issues arise, is that your antivirus probably updated, and the new version improperly recognized the game's executable as containing unsafe code, so it quarantined the application. It's called a false positive. You should try to reinstall the game, and go from there...

And to be extra sure, add an exception in your antivirus for the folder where your game is installed, so it doesn't happen again. I have my whole GOG games folder in an exception. ;)

I haven't added it, but I've also been lucky and never ran into this issue. Though I have had the HIPS component of my firewall, block something in Book of Demons which stopped unlocking the achievements. So there's some wisdom to what you're saying.
Thanks for your replies everyone! Appreciated. Reinstalled and running fine so will lokk into the anti virus aspect.
These 6 bytes in sequence is only ever found in viruses...
