This game caught my eye, presumably due to the sale. Has anyone played it before? I am currently playing Icewind Dale right now, and Fallen Enchantress looks very similar. Has anyone played this before, and if so, is it similar to Icewind Dale, or something different? Does the player control one character or many? How do you like it? Given the price, I was going to try it, but thought I woud ask first. Thanks all
It's not the same at all. Icewind dale is a real-time with pause party-based RPG, while Fallen Enchantress is a 4X turn-based strategy game.
Think less in terms of Icewind Dale and more in terms of Heroes of Might and Magic. You have heroes and you can develop those heroes, but it is a strategy game, not a role playing game. You conquer land, fight enemies, build towns, develop towns, produce armies and it is turn based.
It's nothing like Icewind Dale. Think Civilization in a fantasy setting. You control many different troops that belong to an Empire that you control. You manage that empire by building, training troops, etc. You then go to war with other empires or use diplomacy.

I own the game and it's pretty good. A couple of things I'm not a fan of but overall it's pretty fun.
Thanks to all the replies. It is quite clear I misread the description on this game. Time to get my glasses looked at!!
I played for a long time and i enjoyed it despite the *many* defects.
The strategic part is like Civilization set in a fantasy world as BKGaming alredy said.
The tactical battle are like Blackguards or many other turn based strategy games.
I played that entire series.

it was frustrating because they kept nerfing features i really liked in patches. Eventually it became too dull after that.

However i found some limited enjoyment after learning to use the map editor!

Make sure you visit the official site; it is one of the best sites i've seen - plenty of pictures about the game, good description and gameplay examples.
I really want to try this game. Master of Magic and Heroes of M&M are among my all-time favorites.
