Wired2051: Thanks for your willing to help!

What a pity the don't tell their customers this facts in advanced, before installation! *grrr* >:(

Now I started C:\GOG Games\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64\witcher3.exe but it is v1.02 and the downloaded Patch is "1.31 to 1.32". What to do? Install it anyway?
I don't know where to find old patches. Let Galaxy patch it, then uninstall Galaxy. Or... just uninstall it and download the full offline most recent installer from your account here.

Maybe this 'll help:

Wired2051: Where do I get the patch v1.02 to 1.31?
if you read my comment, you cant it doesn't exist... use Galaxy or download the game+patch from the site.

Starkrun: It doesn't exist...
I don't care that much myself; but that still sucks!
(and I know CDPR isn't the perfect customer friendly company - they've even released The Witcher series retail versions with copy protection / DRM on them.)

Wired2051: No, yesterday I installed Witcher 3 (RETAIL VERSION). After 1h all 4 discs are installed. To my horror Galaxy (beta!) was also installed - and installed something automaticly.

To get rid of Galaxy, I started C:\GOG Games\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64\witcher3.exe manually.

Now the game is v1.02 and the patch downloaded from GOG doesn't work.

And yes, I want to use the German language support.

For me it starts looking like I'm forced to use Galaxy because there is no way to patch the retail version. *grrr*
The retail version is useless at this point, sorry to say. Simply download the the offline backup installers and install from there.
To be fair that's probably less bandwidth wasted than trying to patch a retail disk version to the latest version. I played Witcher from day 1, and while the game worked really well out of the box (comparing it with say... Bethsoft games), the frequent patches were worth the gigabytes of the base game several times over...

So even if you can't patch the retail version, you can simply download and install the latest version, which amounts to the same thing, and no Galaxy is required.
So. I cleaned my HDD and loaded the game files from GOG - that takes 90 minutes.

Then I installed in the following order:
setup_the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_1.31_(a)_(9709).exe
witcher3_lang_de_2.0.0.52.exe
patch_the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_1.31_(A)_to_1.32.exe
That takes another 50 Minutes.

The installation of setup_the_witcher3_dlc1-16_2.0.0.52.exe failed. The message "This version of the base game is not supported. Update your version with the latest patch" appeared - why? The game menu says v1.32.

The error is reproducible

Btw: I can only start the game by running C:\GOG Games\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64\witcher3.exe Why there is no entry in Win7 Start > all programs > GOG.com > The Witcher® 3 - Wild Hunt?
looking at the game files the base game and 16 dlc pack says 1.31, maybe the DLC needs to be installed prior to the patch?

if they are working in parity on the GOTY version that make sense, all possible content needs to be installed before you patch. 1.31 is the latest you truly need anyways per the patch notes:

That takes another 50 Minutes.
No need to do that, unless you want to play in Chinese.

Wired2051: When I started the game, to my horror, GoG Galaxy started!
"Horror," eh?

You uninstalled the game and downloaded the latest offline installer? (I dug up my i-Rosetta stone)

But ehm... what's this "setup_the_witcher3_dlc1-16_2.0.0.52.exe" file?
Meanwhile I have installed the game a third time:

1. setup_the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_1.31_(a)_(9709).exe
2. witcher3_lang_de_2.0.0.52.exe
3. setup_the_witcher3_dlc1-16_2.0.0.52.exe

And now it works. I'm playing v1.31 now.

So far, I haven't detected any technical problems...

I suppose that's already included in the GOTY version?
