1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

I have some games that have unnoficial patches and mods installed, like Baldur's Gate 1, that has BGFixpack and the ddraw Fix installed, and I was wondering if it's safe to import these games' folders to Galaxy? I've have installed these games and their mods before I started using Galaxy, and I haven't imported them out of fear that GOG Galaxy may delete the mods/patches when updating those games.
I was able to import my modded version of Quake just fine without Galaxy overwriting anything, but that may not be the case for all games for all I know. Only problem is that Galaxy doesn't yet support command line arguments or setting launch options which can be a problem for some games like Quake. Just remember to set that specific game not to auto-update in that game's Galaxy settings afterward.

Think you coudl fix the issue where you can't use the search function to browse through lists of threads? Using it within threads works fine but in list view donen't, really frustrating. Also could you stop making the back button redirect to main store page?! If I want to buy somthing it'll buy it, If it don't care for it don't bother me!

Hey,

it really depends on how the mods for Baldur's Gate works. If they modified the original game files then Galaxy will update them, if you have auto-updates enabled (controlled in application settings) then upon import Galaxy will perform initial sync to latest version possible and download any files that mismatch.

If you want to be safe, you could backup BG1 into separate folder before importing.

One option would be to import Baldur's Gate, abort the sync and turn off Baldur's Gate Auto-updates in the game's settings, as Galaxy changes game files as last part of the sync. You just have to abort the sync, before Galaxy manages to change the files. I attached a screenshot with abort button and an x to cancel the update.

Game settings are available in the More dropdown (Also in a .screenshot :)).

it really depends on how the mods for Baldur's Gate works. GOG Galaxy refuse to connect to Gog.com for me. When I go to the site in browser, it's ok, but Galaxy keeps starting offline and I can't even connect manually. It just hangs and stays disconnected. I have latest version of client on Windows 10 64bit, worked fine last time I used it (couple days ago).

EDIT: Seems like it was just a minor hiccup somewhere on the PC <> servers line and it's logging in now.

I don't use Galaxy at all, so I don't understand why you are adding it to standalone installers now? I have to keep uninstalling a thing I never wanted in the first place (Galaxy). It's rather annoying, and damages loyalty to GOG.

You can grab Galaxy free classic installers under the MORE button. You can also uncheck install GOG Galaxy even with the Galaxy installers under the installer options. You do have options.

Huh, I didn't know that. Still, the default should be without - if people want Galaxy, they'll install it and manage games that way. Or at least give us a setting so we can choose our default. It's a pain to bloat files by over 100MB for customers who won't ever use Galaxy.

GOG's reasoning for making it default is because many games now utilize Galaxy for MP, achievements, cloud saves, etc. and they want the install process as simple as possible for new users who may not know they need Galaxy for these features.

Many people have asked for a setting so they can make the classic installers the default and GOG has stated they will look into it but we don't know if or when it will be added.

GOG has also stated they plan to make the Galaxy installers automatically download Galaxy online (if the user is online) rather than bundle it with every installer in the future.
Add linux checksum for gog api please.

I play a game until I complete it or get bored, uninstall, then install a new game. This. I like Galaxy so far, but bundling it with installers is just inconvenient for both customers and gog. Why would anyone want all of the installers to have Galaxy increasing the size and taking up more space on storage devices when we already have a page for a separate stand alone Galaxy installer for download? Why would gog want to increase their already stretched workload by having to update additional separate installers? It doesn't make sense.

You may think it's that simple but hardly anyone reads anything anymore and most people just click without reading or understanding what they are installing/downloading.

No offence, but take for instance yourself. The Galaxy installers are marked on the page when you download them, and if you had looked in installer options you would have seen you could install the game without Galaxy.

Sure, but not everyone is you and for people like you GOG provides the classic installers. Just because something isn't set to be default how you would want it to be doesn't mean you can't own your own find what you want.

Okay so a few people are complaining about this issue now on Reddit with the release of Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Two months latter and still no fix because it's "waiting be released together with another feature"? Really? To be blunt who is making these asinine decisions?

Can you guys on the Galaxy team please stop treating Galaxy like a beta and start treating it like a released version that it is suppose to be. Nobody told GOG to rush it out of beta, and now you guys are purposely leaving bugs unfixed for absurd reasons.

Fix the bugs. You keep adding more stuff, which don't get me wrong is great but you are adding it on an already buggy mess which creates even more bugs. Slow down, take a few weeks or a month, have a bug bash (these work wonders), you can even get the community involved, and again fix the bugs.

We're aware of the Hellblade issue, and we're investigating it. This is a new bug, and is not connected to the previous screen shot improvements that were released a while back.
