Stubbs the Zombie:Rebel without A pulse was a fantastic game where you can run around as a zombie and eat peoples brains. It was pretty much Grand Theft Zombie, I really want to play it again and i think many of you would want to play it too. So hopefully we get a DRM free copy of Stubbs The Zombie as it was a fantastic game that i dont want to fade into obscurity

Question:

"what do I have to do to play Stubbs the Zombie on my Xbox One? Any idea who owns the rights? Still have my disc!"

Matt Soell (Creator of Stubbs the Zombie):

"No clue, unfortunately. Disney’s got the rights to it now, and they’re in no hurry to update an M-rated game about a brain-eating zombie. Best bet at the moment is to play it on the original Xbox, assuming you have one that still works. Sorry I don’t have a better answer for you."

Very interesting. Disney should sell the rights to GOG.

Wasn't there a whole mess of rights issues involved, particularly concerning the music?

In any case, I'd love to see this game here!
Question:

Have you looked into a rerelease of Stubbs the Zombie? According to the creator, Disney acquired the IP & there might be an issue of whether or not they want to release it under the Disney name. Maybe they still could through a proxy like @NightdiveStudio. Thoughts?

CEO of Nightdive Studios:

I did have a few discussions with Alex Seropian - Disney is a tough nut to crack with some of their older IP. I'd love to get Nightmare Ned back out there as well :|

I'd love to see Disney characters as eatable NPCs for Stubbs.
On a serious note though, would be so great to see the game get a digital release, it seems to have aged fairly well
If Disney have it unless theres music issues then i'd be suprised if it doesn't come here.

Also if you have it on CD it works fine under Windows 10, just make sure to rename the exe once its installed to CoDSP otherwise it wount load.
Still want it !!!! Guys please vote for it !!
I guess this is a... >puts on sunglasses<... zombie thread.
I came across this. If anyone is willing to try it out, please let the rest of us know

I really wish GOG would get it, or Steam, or Epic. Just someone so we can play it again. If Disney does indeed own the rights now, then they need to relinquish those rights. What are they actually going to do with a zombie game? Just give it to someone who will actually do right by the game.
Stubbs works fine on Windows 10, I tried it some time ago.

I never understand why companies sit on rights & never release anything. Like when you buy something & never use it.

Whaaaat, Disney the creator of the Disney Vault where they purposefully withhold video releases to increase the perception value towards them in spite of them being based on old public domain fairy tales and most of their newer versions are vastly inferior to the previous printed versions due to a digital blasting process removing detail from original cels?
