Hello :)

I'm just wondering, as I couldn't find a simiar thread about this: Isn't anyone else slightly annoyed by the new auto-play videos on the GOG store when browsing through games (I'm using the Galaxy client)? I find this a quite distracting and makes my browsing experience less enjoyable. I hoped GOG would add a switch to turn off this feature but nothing happened so far. Anyone knows if something like this is planned?
Generally I consider the new store design inferior to the previous one in various aspects. Especially the news section... It's quite easy to miss out on news as it's placed too far down the page and less news are shown.

Any plans on improving all this?

Yes: there are loads of posts on the new website design.
No: it won't be improved.

Improving is no part of the vocabulary of GOG.

Here are just a few:
What did just break thread starting at post 1823
Why are you making the store worse and worse thread
Dont expect anything from gog fixing the website thread
gog what are you now working on to correct the highly criticized redesign since 10 years anniversary thread
Black Friday Sale Fiasco

New page design list of bugs and improvement proposals for the developers thread

There was a thread with over a hundred pages of bugs happening, confusion, complaints, suggestions, requests to roll back until beta tested, etc. which was usually in the first couple of pages on the forum, but I cannot find it now. (Did GOG delete it?) Anyway, this should be enough to tell you it has been a very unwelcome redesign with a lot of things bugging out or breaking entirely and almost complete silence from GOG, including for many support tickets on the matter from what I am seeing around the forum. The hollow laughter you may encounter at your question is due to many complaining about the auto-play videos from the first of October when the redesign rolled out. Actually, at first I understand it used to be even worse with those. :/ However as I do not use Galaxy (Linuxer) I cannot tell you what you may need to help that on Galaxy. Good Luck.

I think you're referring to this one: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/anyone_disliking_the_new_gog

There was another one that had a few statements from then-community manager Linko. I'll see if I can dig it up...
In the news thread about the website change I stated my opinion and it certainly has not changed; auto-playing videos is bad design.

Yes, that is the one. Thank you.
For those that use NoScript, go to Options -> Advanced -> ABE -> User and enter the following:

Site .youtube.com
Accept from .youtube.com
Deny INCLUSION(SCRIPT, OBJ, SUBDOC)

This will prevent YouTube from loading anything from outside the YouTube.com domain. You can add more domains to the accept line if you watch embedded videos elsewhere. Using this on GOG works seamlessly!
Okay, that's bad :( I hoped they'd acknowledge the issues and work on some improvements... Seems I need to switch over to the website as well and block the darn videos...

Anyway, thanks for the info and pointing out the existing discussion on the forum; and sorry for creating yet another thread about this but the search function here also seems to be crap - or I'm not using it properly ^^
After a bit of digging, here are some more goldies from the shit-redesign-thread-front:

Nice work on the game page redesign! (The unduly forgotten grand elder of redesign discussion threads. Don't let the title fool you, things go sour by post #4.)
GOG-Mixes removed from product pages. (Has Linko's legendary "We're still in the teething stages of the redesign"-statement in it. I assume he was talking about something like this.)
Has the site update affected (or further affected) your decision about how much to spend on GOG?
So GOG, about the redesign
Redesign once more

LOL!

People complaining over nothing. Tons of DRM-free games, fair prices, awesome deals, excellent releases (near-to-any crash at all)... still complaining about store minor bugs and stuff that might be improved.

Just... LOL

I'm not saying that we shouldn't push GOG to improve themselves, we definetly MUST but... reading the flaming rage of some teen in those threads you linked... makes me laugh at best xD
