They need to tear the site down and re-do the whole project.

For these forums, just regressing back to "previously working OK" code would suffice. The URL mangling (which breaks Web Archive links, multiple links in a line and certain URLs) started a couple of years ago - it can be tragically comic looking back at past posts which rendered OK when they were made but are completely messed up now (due principally to the "one link per line" limitation).

For the front page, a simple HTML translation of their RSS feed would be a good starting point.

Tried to access GOG website on my mobile phone yesterday, it was slow to load (I had a bad signal) so I left it to load in the background to come back to later.

Forgot about it, checked my phone a few hours later and it was running hot like it was playing a CPU-intensive game (which I rarely do on my mobile). A few hours later and the phone battery had run to 0, usually from a full charge in the morning it would be at 50% by that time.

Something's not right with the coding on the front page.

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that the front page (only, AFAIK) included javascript from the adt384.net domain. A quick look at it suggests an error reporting/sales tracking script. There doesn't seem to be anything to track page load performance, but I do wonder whether it may have arisen from this thread or is it just coincidence?

The problem with Unity is that most companies use the free version, which isn't as good(for the end users) as the paid version.

(The first SS remake demo, for example, was hella slow because....among other things....it used the free version of Unity)

They should archive all threads, make a new forum, and then port over only threads that were made or used(i.e. old threads like forum games) within say the last year, and put all other threads into the archives with the ones they archived the last time.

Out of curiosity, I opened https://www.gog.com/ without my usual blockers.
No wonder it's heavy and slow, as it needs to load all these resources from:

What a strange way to spell vim ;P

Several of the game cards are also way too heavy. We may want to look up games on GOG on something weaker than that new £3300 desktop even if we play on it later.

Also, not all of us have very new and powerful computers but may still buy games for quite a bit of money.
