Dogmaus:
Yes, you are correct in that gog should put "active packages" and subtract the games you already have. I say if doesn´t have the four games.

krakataul: No false advertising here - it is "Sale". Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Xmas, Spring, Weekend... Sale. False advertising would mean no discounts under Sale.
avatar
B1tF1ghter: Actually, wrong.
False advertising doesn't apply selectively.
That banner is CLEARLY part of ADVERTISING and it advertises in a way that can easily be confusing as it is made in such a way that if someone doesn't know better (for example someone who didn't see this banner before today) then such someone would immediatelly come to conclusion that this ENTIRE sale is "Cyber Monday Sale".
The advertising (banner) is done poorly and is misleading and confusing people. Therefore it's false advertising.
It's dead simple.
Sorry. Now i know why i felt so misled and deceived...

In all fairness, i think people are mostly confused by the amount of games they added in their backlog (some really good offers plus the Dark Knight himself) rather than whatever you describe.

I bet you've lost a lot of money too, huh?

The broadness of confusion on GOG (which is a FACT) does NOT nullify individual confusing issues.
Yes, there is quite A LOT of things confusing here. Does that mean we should let THIS fly too?
No. I pointed out what I see. And I can totally see this confusing SOME people (not neccesarily ALL).
It's really simple. The banner was handled improperly and so it CAN be and IS confusing for SOME people.
Period.

Even tho this isn't directed towards me I feel like I should intervene. What you said is to a degree a shameless bait. Please just don't write meaning-questionable things that could be seen as initiating toxicity.

ariaspi: Dude, chill out. They changed the name and merged both sales. Why so big deal about it? No one is confused, apart from you, I guess.
I am chill. Are you "dude"?
It's pretty amusing how biased some people (I am not saying YOU are) are here on GOG.
Like, it's enough that I point out obvious webdesign fluke on their "beloved platform" and I meet rainfall of downvotes.
Congratulations. Really grown up behaviour.

And fyi (to YOU who I quoted here) - I am not consufed at all - just becasue you or me are not confused it DOESN'T mean NOBODY is.
I merely pointed out that current design of banner is misleading (it clearly is) and would make people who didn't see previous version of it come to conclusion that this is indeed "Cyber Monday Sale" and always was. That would be a false conclusion.
I would like costumers to not get mislead no matter how small the mislead may be. So I voiced my concern.
Is it really a reason to so heavily downvote me dear GOG users?
Talk about ungrown behaviour.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: Shadows: Awakening is a very good story/character-driven RPG game and highly under-rated. I recommend checking it out if you haven't already.
Thanks, looks interesting. Is it a good idea to play the older games in the series first? Looking into it a bit more, I guess just Heretic Kingdoms: The Inqisition, since there is some strange stuff with Awakening: Heretic Kingdoms (thanks to the review from Vaheteiole):

https://steamcommunity.com/app/256030/discussions/0/1640915206458130934/

It sounds like Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms is a slightly different version of the frist half of Shadows: Awakening. At least on Steam buying S:HK also gets you S:A, but there is no mention of that here although it is still for sale and the same regular price (and not discounted as heavily) as S:A. Someone in the Steam thread mentioned S:HK seems more polished and less frustrating, two others found S:A to be better in every way. But it also sounds like S:HK has a longer tie in with the old game at the very beginning.

Plus, it sounds like S:A (at least, not sure about S:HK) will pop up a box saying it crashed if it can't contact Google, but then the game will work anyway:

https://steamcommunity.com/app/256030/discussions/0/1640915206458130934/

The latest review of S:A mentions a gamebreaking bug, although according to gogdb.org there hasn't been an update in almost two years so I assume it is either a rare situation or just confusing how it is supposed to work (or is a DLC related issue). One review mentions severe pathfinding issues. I also see that there are a couple of DLC (and a third useless one). With my backlog I'm thinking I'll wishlist for now,

B1tF1ghter: (...) As things stand right now that banner is a stright out false advertising. You should really somehow fix this banner and I mean "for yesterday" kind of asap. (...)
Fix your approach first Harvey : )

joveian: The latest review of S:A mentions a gamebreaking bug,
I think stuff like that and the other alleged technical issues you cited are either super rare freak occurrences and/or it was something else causing the error on the user(s)' system which they falsely attributed to the game, and/or perhaps they are just making stuff up in some cases.

I never had any problems with the game having bugs and/or any of its features failing to function properly, and I doubt most other players did either.

Dogmaus: Still no Count Lucanor. I will have a look around but I think I'm good.
EDIT Who am I kidding? I got Fight'N Rage in the end and goona have a round later. It's at its historical low since the last sale and I've always had an eye on it. I wish I had someone to play it with!
Looks like the Fight'N Rage is to my taste as well, thanks!

Yeah, basically S:HK was part 1, and for a long time it was questionable whether part 2 will get released, but then it was, and instead of a separate part 2, you got S:A, which is the full game, both parts. Why is S:HK left separately on GOG, I was never sure.
[Saying this because I've seen it said more than enough times to be certain, don't have the games myself, so can't speak about bugs or anything else.]

Thanks, good to hear. I added it and Kingdom Come: Deliverance to my backlog, now I just need to spend less time reading random stuff on the internet and posting to forums and such and more time playing :). And not get drawn in by the next month and a half of sales...

I think you were the only one who saw my reply to krakataul as toxic, rather than the teasing it was really meant to be to a fellow GOGer. ;)

PhyCX: Looks like the Fight'N Rage is to my taste as well, thanks!
It's pretty but one could find fighting shallow (or at least it seems so until you practice theunlockable training). You can also unlock 1vs1 a la Street Fighter and other characters for variety. You make coins to unlock stuff playing the arcade mode.
Some training indications are wrong, for example when it says withouth any direction but you're meant to press up instead!
Anyway, it's very enjoyable.

Does anyone know if Yesterday Origins runs on Linux? It neither has an entry on WineHQ nor in the Judas™ list.

Same question for Mortal Kombat 4.

The specific wording you used made me see that as unclear in terms of your intentions. It looked slightly of offensive (as in offense-defence, not "offending") kind to me.
No hard feelings :)
