Hmmm.... I think there's more going on behind the scenes. People get warnings or even bans and threads got deleted. And the hands-off approach to let people show what assholes they actually are (while deleting the worst stuff) is IMO not bad.

No one really knows what happened to fables... probably swallowed by the forum or something.

Yes it happens but in most cases much too late. GOG imo was simply missing manpower - you know, a community manager ... and this should be the past now. :)

I'm not familiar with the incident, but generally speaking I think we should judge posts on whether they violate the rules or not, as opposed to whether we think they are dumb or not. Mostly because we'll never all agree on what's smart/dumb, good/evil, etc. We should have clear rules that cannot be interpreted in multiple ways. Then we should stick to these rules. And, of course, it should be the moderator's prerogative to delete those who violate the rules. It should never be up to the local holier-than-thou-vigilante-club.
