Hey everyone!

I have been looking for old style Hidden Object Games for awhile. Most of them now have that adventure element with a not very good story and very little searching of hidden objects. Gone are the days of the first Mystery Case Files where the whole game was basically searching for hidden objects.

Has anybody run into a game where there's less bad story and adventure gameplay and more of cleverly hidden objects to find?

Thanks in advance!
Have you tried Hidden Folks ? It's visually very different from old style HOGs, but it's really just screen scrutations for details hunting. And it's a bit lovely.
That's a hidden object metagame on GOG. Find the good Hidden Object game.

Totally agree.

I would recommend you to try out Barn Yarn. I got it for $6 on Amazon. It's cute and fun and you really spend most of your time looking for objects.

Fairfox: too much need less story or jank to try an' 'worth' it up
just giv gud hidden object
To be honest. I for one would have never even played a HOG if they weren't kind of a genre mix. It never even occured to me that these games once were purely "search for hidden objects" only.

I recently played Tiny Big Story and there's much of searching in it. However there are also certain logic mini games included so even this is not purely "search for hidden objects".

You might try Pickers. There is a bit of a sim or resource-management part, but there's really no story line and, other than selling items, the gameplay is entirely focused on hidden-object scenes. (No logic puzzles.) It's shown up a few times in bundles on Fanatical (Steam keys), and I think Big Fish Games may have it on their site.

Big Fish Games allows trial downloads of a lot of their games that let you test a game for 60 minutes, so that might be a good way to weed out ones you're not interested in.
Just watched a vid about Hidden Folks. Let's hope that game is going to make it to GOG! :D
Unlikely to happen any time soon:
