Received an e-mail this morning announcing that I now have an online profile. The page pretty much looks like Steam to me and it's precisely why I am a customer of GOG.com, instead of Steam...I don't, well...didn't have to have any type of online profile or participate in an online community setting.

This type of service probably appeals to quite a few users, but I have zero interest myself. As the title states, any way to opt out or turn this off? Perhaps a way to at least make the page private? I'm seeing zero setting options.

Thanks...

There should be a checkbox to disable your profile.

Hover over your name in the headbar-->privacy&settings-->privacy-->Profile enabled (here remove the checkmark (box empty), then your profile is hidden)

Hover over your account name (on the top bar)
> "Privacy & Settings"
> "Privacy"
Uncheck "Profile enabled".

I am personally of the opinion that the profile needs be opt-in anyhow, and just FYI: Profiles have been online for over a week, and the option to opt out of them only got implemented after days and days of protests.

Thanks for the replies....and the help....I'm appreciative.

For me, it's more than about privacy. I have no use for all of these extra options. I live a simple life and I'd like to keep it that way....every time I turn around some company is trying to upsell me, add something more to what I already have....or just going out of their way to profit at my expense. All of it get's a little overwhelming and bigger is not always better.

It's all becoming a digital wasteland....smile.

For what it's worth, the company that could somehow monetize that info (gOg) already has the data whether your profile is set to private or full-on public. But I understand what you mean.
