UPDATE: iDEAL is back.

Hello everyone!

We're sorry for this delayed response, but we would also like to thank you for raising this issue. We're currently investigating what happened, as removing iDEAL wasn't our intention. I don't have an ETA yet, but we want to bring it back ASAP.

Please accept our apologies and bear with us while we deal with the situation.

I'll update you on the status.

Well - I got the (expected) reply from support. They insist the problem is on the side of the iDeal payment processor. I wonder how it's possible that ALL other store fronts seem to have no trouble at all and iDeal is only malfunctioning at GOG and nobody else.

It's really inconvenient for me and as I live in the Netherlands, other options are not easy to obtain. For instance - A credit card is tied to a minimum income (that's far above modal), and banks are hesitant to give one. PayPal is a option, but the problem is that it severely lags behind with payment processing, so it will take days before my account is finally "synchronized". That's a PITA honestly.

I prioritize GOG for buying my games, but if PayPal is the only option, and Steam offers a far more convinient iDeal, then... Yeah...

What's so difficult about using a debit or credit card? Over here, the former is available at no cost, while you can meet the minimum requirements for the latter even if you only work part-time.
It is a shame .....

I was actually in the process of rebuying my favourite games on other storefronts than steam. I think i'm already mostly there with titles such as Cities SK II and Total War Warhammer 3&2&1, BattleTech, Grim Dawn and Rogue Trader firmly under the hood but i think i will postpone any and other purchases from GoG untill at least this situation is resolved.

and certainly with that 'lousy' answer provided by support!

Muahahaha, let's see what you do with 300 euros less this year!!! GoG!

you can do what i did; put some money on it through ideal without linking your bank account
N26 Bank is an option for us tho, u get a free bank account and a digital creditcard or if u want also physical creditcard, and u can only spend what is on your account, and the card is free to use. And unlike PayPal u dont have to link it to your main Bank Account.

Okay, That is a nice to know!
I just noticed something, they seem to have added google pay.
But still no iDeal....
I highly doubt it's something wrong, because that would be fixed by now.
i'm startin to think this is something GoG or the Payment provider is doing but just not telling.

Yeah - This is not just a "glitch". I also have the feeling there is more going on than we are told.
I don't like "jumping through hoops" just to buy a game. I rather go to the place that DOES offer me iDeal payment. It's a shame because I like having my games on GOG, but yeah...

For now I hold off buying games on GOG until the "glitch" is solved. And if it's never solved, then I guess I will think twice for buying something here. Too bad, but it is what it is...

All these fun games comming out now and i can't buy any of them! Might as well spend money on STEAM if this goes on.
Come on, GOG, fix it already, I have a Breath of Fire IV to buy.
Meanwhile, PayPal and some 'steadycoin' organization have put their hands together and started a new initiative to celebrate and progress the reputation of steadycoin among doubters.

I feel a bit inclined to support an initiative towards a broader monetization thing seems, i guess this seems to be more stable than a small monetization thing though of course both things are anything but bulletproof constructions....

and otc with all of the baddies that can hide in the bitcoins... still the only solution seems to move forward to at least be able to certify a certain standard

Though, buying yet another computer game on steam..... i guess that is on another level of above decision-making progress
This is getting ridiculous.

Gog is the *only* shop I have ever encountered that stopped offering this payment option, even temporarily.

Make of that what you will.

That's either your bank's own requirements or that of a 3rd party credit card provider.
I have a credit card issued by my bank (Rabobank) for about a decade now. So far I have only earned a modal income. I think the only requirement I had to meet was to have a job.
To be honest I have limited mine to €1000 a month and the balance is automatically cleared monthly from my bank account.

Yeah, it’s really frustrating how GOG has handled this. Other stores seem to manage iDeal just fine. Hope they fix it soon, because it’s definitely making me think twice too.

I am not exactly thrilled about this nonsense either.
One can buy a debit "credit card" to use, but thats just another step, and has you jump through hoops

I am starting to think they arent going to fix the "glitch"and just ignore it.
Gog is as clear as mud as usual with these things.
