I'm not really unhappy with the current forum (nice simplicity), but I can't fault people who are since it is very old, has a pretty bad search, etc. So I'm curious what forum software you think would be best for GOG, if they were to (hopefully) switch over some day.

I like the current forum. If they could make the search function actually search stuff, while fixing the random gogbears, that would be enough for me.

The last thing I want is for them to change the forum and break BE and AF.

SMF is my fav. Easy to use, open, customizable. But unfortunately GOG would never move to a new system since it would completely break Galaxy.

Something that has these things:

-advanced search
-more sub-forums
-ignore list (with wild cards, not just user based)
-a "do not display" for every fluffy option people might use like emoticons or signatures
-Ability to hide reputation points (this is to stop unnecessary flame wars about it)

Personal nitpick: the ability to lock people's avatar in place. I've never seen this before and it's not a big deal but it would be useful.

I haven't seen rep flame wars as much as I have a certain scammer just abusing it, and proudly admitting to it. Such as what he does to TinyE and myself.

Haha, first thing my mind went to was also BE and AF. Thankfully, we're safe, they don't give a flying kite about the forum.

A proper posting history would be nice though.
