JudasIscariot: Now that you have the proper permissions on the .sh file for FTL, go to the directory where gog_ftl_advanced_edition_2.0.0.2.sh is located, open up a terminal in that directory, and type the following in terminal:

./gog_ftl_advanced_edition_2.0.0.2.sh

and hit Enter.

See, when you give a file execute permission (the "x" flag for chmod) there is no output because the operation was successful in doing what you wanted it to do, namely give that file execute permissions :)

superdub10: Dziękuję Ci

This worked a treat (installed linux today)
Ahh Google Translate :P

The easier way is just "Dzięki" :)
useful tip:

press TAB to auto-complete a command or path

for example, instead of typing:

Downloads/gog_ftl_advanced_edition_2.0.0.2.sh

I would rather type:

Dow
than press tab and it auto-completes to Downloads/

then type:

gog_ft
than press tab and it auto-completes to gog_ftl_advanced_edition_2.0.0.2.sh

Rocco33: Could somebody please explain to me how to install games on Ubuntu 16.04? Simple instructions would be helpful.
Sometimes you have do something like this sudo app-get doom 2 install fur expull in terminal.
You may have google such commands based on the game you what to install. Gaming in my book is the only reason to say with say with an OS like MAC OSX. Linux otter then emulation i just not ready fur being an gaming os.

Given the worthlessness of the advice and the random trailing statement, I suspect this is a bot. Not quite enough to mark it as spam, though. Bots really are getting quite good at what they do (and I have no idea what they're trying to do).

Bots don't buy games and don't play them. ;)

Humans generally don't reply to the OP without reading any of the rest of the thread. I guess there are exceptions to every rule. Maybe this user's account is now being used for a bot. Maybe the user is experimenting with bot software. Who knows?

I guess the "randomness" I mentioned could just be the result of not having English as a first language, but "sudo apt-get doom 2 install fur expull in terminal" is wrong in so many levels I can't believe a human typed it.

Edit: on second thought, maybe it's just a MacOSX user trying to troll Linux users. Not sure what the point of that is, either.
