Here's one from the forum:

Anyway, here is another one from a video game that works out of context, but not in context:

(Can someone guess what game this is from? Hint: some of the other text in the game is not exactly in what I would call good English.)

It might not be what you're claiming it is, depending on the nationality of the poster.
Different languages assemble sentences differently; if the OP isn't anglophone he probably imagined the sentence in his mother language, and when translating the english pronoun that closest matched the original untranslated sentence would be "him".

The rule in english where you use "they" in a context where it's knowingly talking about only one person is quite weird and specific to the english language as far as I have seen. So you can't assume people all over the world would easily catch on to it.

Anyway, this thread is supposedly about making fun of sentences that become bizarre when out of context, so let's go back to that instead, okay?
